Marco Belzoni was an Italian explorer and archaeologist who worked in Egypt and Sudan in the early 19th century. He discovered the tomb of pharaoh Seti I in the Valley of the Kings in 1817 and removed its contents, including a sarcophagus weighing over 7 tons.
