Examples of DigipaksI chose to look at the front cover of this dancehall Digipak. The front cover has to be catchy in orderto sell, because any front cover of a CD, DVD etc is the selling point of the product, therefore it hasto be able to draw the audience in. This Digipak is catchy due to the bright colours and the title is inbold lettering which immediately catches the buyer’s eye and draws them in. The main colours usedare orange and yellow with the Jamaican flag spread horizontally across the middle. There is onlyone picture used which is of a black woman supposedly Jamaican because of the bra she is wearingwhich is of the Jamaican flag. In the background are two palm trees and the shadows of peoplepartying and having a good time. This is a good Digipak to use as a template for ours because itshows that everyone will have a good time when they listen to the music and that’s what we wantfor our Digipak. We want the buyer to look at it and instantly think they will have a good timelistening to the song and watching our music video. Digipak template layoutsThis is the Digipak template we will be using as it is the most practical to use. We are going to havean image spread out amongst all three sections. We will have the CD with the song on one side andthe DVD with the music video on the other side. The inner leaflet with the lyrics will be in the middleof the pack.
Branding researchA well-known brand is generally regarded as one that people will recognise, often even if they do notknow about the company or its products/services. These are usually the businesses name or thename of a product, although it can also include the name of a feature or style of a product. The overall ‘branding’ of a company or product can also stretch to a logo, symbol, or even designfeatures (e.g. regularly used colours or layouts, such as red and white for Coca Cola.) that identifythe company or its products/services.For example:The Nike brand name is known throughout the world, people can identify the name and logo even ifthey have never bought any of their products. However, not only is the company name a brand, but the logo (The ‘tick’ symbol) is also a strongpiece of branding in its own right. The majority of people that are aware of the company can alsoidentify it (or its products) from this symbol alone. The clothing and running shoe company Adidas is well known for using three stripes on its range ofproducts. This design feature branding allows people to identify their products, even if the Adidasbrand name and logo is not present.
