Calculation of
grades
Each one of the
grades is worth 20%
of the total of the
unit’s grade
The final grade of the unit is the sum of
each grade times 20%
Calculation of grades:
Example
4.2 3.5 3.8 4.0 5 4.1
Calculations for each unit’s grade
Listening Grade: 4.2 x 20% = 0.84
Writing Grade: 3.5 x 20% = 0.7
Reading Grade: 3.8 x 20% = 0.8
Speaking Grade: 4.0 x 20% = 0.8
Participation Grade: 5.0 x 20% = 1
UNIT 1 GRADE:
0.84 + 0.7 + 0.8+ 0.8 + 1 = 4.1

CONSIDERATIONS
•The minimum passing grade is 3.8
•Students need to be informed about the minimum passing grade.
•When defining the passing grade, the teacher should take into account more than the
grade itself, the process students went through
•The rubrics of units are a helpful guide to clearly identify what students are to achieve
in each unit.
•The exam dates are to be agreed between students and teacher. Once the dates are
set, teachers should inform either of the academic coordinators (Sarah or Martin)
•Final exams are not to be done the last Saturday. They must be done the Saturday
before.
•Writing and reading exams are provided by Maria del Mar at the Children Program
Coordination.
•In regards to the speaking examination, unlike the adult program, teacher can create,
develop or design the best assessment activity they consider appropriate.
•As this group is, so is the book; therefore, the listening exam has not been developed
yet. You teachers can create your own, use one the adjusts the needs from the adult
program or use the same audio class CD. In case this last option is decided, you can
create your own questions,.
ATTENDANCE
This is how an attendance
looks
Unlike the adult program, no dots are used. Just use a
checkmark in case the student attends and an X if s/he
doesn’t.
CONSIDERATIONS
•The attendance lists can be taken home.
•Teachers need, however, to bring the attendance list to the Children Program
Academic Coordination once a week for updating.
RELATIONSHIP WITH PARENTS
AND SUPPORT
•If a student needs a tutorial session, the teacher will inform directly
to the children program academic coordination.
•There is going to be two parents’ meeting during the cycle: One the
Saturday after the first exam is done; and a final one the last day of
class.
•In this meeting parents and students are given the Academic Follow
Up Report
•Teachers must inform the children program coordination on when
these meetings are to be held.
…and Remember that…
•Unlike the adult program, this program teaches children but deals with
parents who want complete information on their children’s
performance, not only academic but also disciplinary and attitudinal.
•You are the main element for the success of this program; embrace it and
your students as what you are: an educator, a guide, a role model
•The children and adult academic coordinators are willing to help and
support you in everything you need at every step of the learning
process.
