  • 1. The report “The report provides actions and recommendations to promote and protect talent and innovation in our creative industries, to modernise TV and radio frameworks and support local news, and introduces policies to maximise the social and economic benefits from digital technologies.”

What I hoped for Opening government data to the citizen (and innovators) Scrapping of crown copyright Modification of current tax laws to favour small businesses and start-ups Focus on direct democracy and engagement - useful services with practical benefit Overhaul of data protection laws – data about you belongs to you
  • 3. What we got Suits helping suits Tax breaks for videogame companies Establishment of a “Rights agency” ISPs to police users for copyright infringement Shutting down FM radio Broadband Tax
  • 4. What can we do? Educate – tell your MP why government needs to join the real world Innovate “Shrugs, and returns to work on his own slightly more adventurous vision” - Tom Steinberg, Founder of MySociety.org Recreate & Obsolete – routing around the problem of Crown copyright Pressure in the right place Be the government!
