Intellectual Property Rights and Facebook Apps Intellectual Property Rights on Facebook has been an evergreen topic,surrounded by myths, presuppositions and gossip. Two things - Facebook Social Net-work and Facebook Platform get often mixed up together and cause those missunder-standings. It is often believed that everything that appears on Facebook, becomeslicenced to Facebook, hence the copyright holder loses part of his IPR. This is true forFacebook Social Network. However, another part of Facebook, a bit less discussed, is the Facebook Plat-form. Facebook API-enabled platform provides opportunities for various developers(including us! ;)) to benefit from Facebooks vast user base and social infrasctructurecalled Open Graph. For applications using Facebook Platform, very different IPRregime is applied. Facebook does not require IP rights to be transferred to them in anyway or form.
