Suburban centralities - An Agro-vision for Lainate
Suburbs are often thought to be the opposite of sustainable because the word suburbia gives visions of endless miles
of pavement, houses with its own green lawns, each house with a car and vast greens. Lainate also renders a similar
picture in mind. The thesis investigates the possibility of community agriculture as a way to achieve compactness in
spatial morphology and to achieve a more humane sustainable environment.

Filament- A direct link was envisioned for the area. It would connect the main two market cores and in turn connect all
the fragments of the town. The filament also branches out to connect other important spots in the town.

Suburban centralities - An Agro-vision for Lainate
Implementation of strategy - Agro Filament
Many residents had expressed their desire to cultivate, and own a small land within the limits of municipality. This inter-
vention will provide inhabitants with a small parcel of land, revitalize and transform the unused public spaces, connect
city residents with their neighborhoods and promote healthier eating and living for everyone.

The restructuring of suburbia need not be a massive undertaking even if it were feasible. A simple step along the vital
parts of the suburbia can incrementally fix the entire network. The filament proposed will add the missing pedestrian link
and agriculture in the empty voids propagating a healing process and self regenerating dynamics.

Project Title- Beyond Green, Milan
Project Leader- Francesco Librizzi
This project was displayed in Salone Del Mobile (the biggest design fest in Milan)
The aim of the project is to bring green awareness (which is beyond the color green), amongst people and to promote a
green gallery at Street Correnti. The installation design is like a mesh tower, filled with balls of different colors reiterating
the message “red is green in correnti”. The towers will be placed in maximum visibility areas in Milan.

As a communication strategy we created jute balls as a fun object. These were stitched and filled with soil and flower
seeds. This would involve people, spread awareness, and also lead people to the exhibition area where the wall is
provided for the jute balls to grow. The wall filled by people can be later put in the city to bring the decadent surfaces to
life.

Guerilla gardening - People can take these balls from the installation and put them anywhere in the city or in the wall
designed at the gallery green. This will transform the urban hard areas through a fun medium and spread awareness.

Project Title- Urban In-fill, Social Housing in Historic center, Milan
Project Leader- Gianandrea Barreca
The site had a story of its own and remnants of the bombed building. I retained the wall as a symbol of time and what
stood here once and the building footprint as a first the clue towards planning. Much of the internal organization was a
result of it.
The continuity of surface combined with formal response to existing site features delivers a potent elegance.

This skin was designed in different fixed and open, trespa panels allowing endless variations inside. Geometry is chosen
by evaluating its overall performance at aesthetic level, urban level, constructional level and functional level. The façade
is dynamically sculptured by using this model of windows which can be manipulated according to the light required
inside.

Project Title- Agri-tecture Camouflage
Project Leader- Francesca Benedetto
The aim of the project was to rejuvenate the ex-alfa romeo site in the Arese area located in the outskirts of Milan. The
challenges were to incorporate the existing industrial buildings and provide a new image for the area, and also a way to
generate revenue.
The site is located amidst agricultural fields, and has a very strict industrial image. We used the context as a starting
point of the project to build an agro center, it would be self sustainable park and harbor different varieties of flora.
