Welook for talented mechanical,  civil,  and electrical/electronics  engineers who enjoy  hands­onlearning and are capable of working with sophisticated manufacturing technologies.We  seek talented,  self­motivated individuals who take  the initiative to pursue  new  ideas. Wewant innovative thinkers who take well reasoned risks and think critically about how to improveexisting processes.In our business, the customer comes first. We expect our employees to respond to the changingneeds and expectations of our customers speedily and effectively. We need professionals whowork effectively in teams and value dignity of every individual. Hiring Process The  recruitment process  begins  in August­September with a  round of campus  visits. Therecruitment team holds a series of on­campus information sessions. Currently, we recruit about700  graduates  from  120  universities  including IITs  (Indian Institutes  of Technology),  NITs(National Institutes of Technology), and select regional institutions.In order to apply, candidates must have a cumulative score of at least 60 percent at graduation.Eligible candidates  are invited to appear for a  written test.  The test covers functionalengineering topics  (mechanical, electrical,  etc.),  analytical  ability,  and enthusiasm andknowledge  about automobiles  and farming, respectively. The  test is  validated by  an externalagency to ensure consistency across all campuses. Candidates who pass the written test are called for interviews with our Human Resources teamlater that day. This interview helps us match candidates with positions they will enjoy and excelin.  We  conduct a  group discussion,  case  study  analysis,  extempore (unprepared speech),  andgroup activities to look for candidates  who can take  initiative, think creatively,  communicatewell, and work well on a team. 4
  5. 5. Mahindra Igniters Program03 January 2011Next, we conduct technical interviews to evaluate candidates’ functional domain knowledge intheir field of engineering. We  may  also inquire about projects  completed as  part of theacademic curriculum, extracurricular activities, and hobbies.Offers are extended immediately after the technical interview. The final step in the process is amedical exam at any of the company­approved medical centre or Occupational Health Centres(OHCs) in various plant locations.
