What We Look For
critical thinkers · auto passion or farm passion · creativity · analytical · selfdirected

Succeeding as a Mahindra  Igniter,  our entry level  program for graduate and postgraduate
engineers requires a combination of technical expertise, critical thinking, and people skills. We
look for talented mechanical,  civil,  and electrical/electronics  engineers who enjoy  handson
learning and are capable of working with sophisticated manufacturing technologies.

We  seek talented,  selfmotivated individuals who take  the initiative to pursue  new  ideas. We
want innovative thinkers who take well reasoned risks and think critically about how to improve
existing processes.

In our business, the customer comes first. We expect our employees to respond to the changing
needs and expectations of our customers speedily and effectively. We need professionals who
work effectively in teams and value dignity of every individual.

Hiring Process
The  recruitment process  begins  in AugustSeptember with a  round of campus  visits. The
recruitment team holds a series of oncampus information sessions. Currently, we recruit about
700  graduates  from  120  universities  including IITs  (Indian Institutes  of Technology),  NITs
(National Institutes of Technology), and select regional institutions.

In order to apply, candidates must have a cumulative score of at least 60 percent at graduation.
Eligible candidates  are invited to appear for a  written test.  The test covers functional
engineering topics  (mechanical, electrical,  etc.),  analytical  ability,  and enthusiasm and
knowledge  about automobiles  and farming, respectively. The  test is  validated by  an external
agency to ensure consistency across all campuses.

Candidates who pass the written test are called for interviews with our Human Resources team
later that day. This interview helps us match candidates with positions they will enjoy and excel
in.  We  conduct a  group discussion,  case  study  analysis,  extempore (unprepared speech),  and
group activities to look for candidates  who can take  initiative, think creatively,  communicate
well, and work well on a team.

                                                                                                   4
Mahindra Igniters Program
03 January 2011

Next, we conduct technical interviews to evaluate candidates’ functional domain knowledge in
their field of engineering. We  may  also inquire about projects  completed as  part of the
academic curriculum, extracurricular activities, and hobbies.

Offers are extended immediately after the technical interview. The final step in the process is a
medical exam at any of the companyapproved medical centre or Occupational Health Centres
(OHCs) in various plant locations.

    Eligibility                                                 Technical
Written Test HR Interview Medical Test
     Criteria Interview

A range of opportunities are available within our Automotive and Farm Equipment businesses
at different locations throughout the country. During the application process, we will invite you
to give us your function and location preferences, and we will do our best to honor them.
