  • 2. Tata Comm. close to bagging Lankan fixed line firm Suntel
    Tata Communication Ltd is set to acquire Sri Lanka’s largest land-based telephone company, Suntel Ltd.
    Suntel is second largest fixed line telecom provider in srilanka with around 205 market share.
  • 3. Suntel is currently owned by a joint venture between Swedish telecom giant overseas Telecom, Metrocorp, Townsend of Hongkong, National development bank & international Finance corporation, a member of world group
  • 4. One of the key reason for the aquition is the change in the business plans to enter into outbound voice traffic data from the existing inbound voice business.
    TCL also has long distance & internet service provider license in Srilanka.
  • 5. Aircel, Apollo tieup for tele health care
    • Mobile phone operator Aircel and hospital chain Apollo Hospital Group have come together to launch a tele heath care consultancy anytime, anywhere.
    • 6. The initiative will be initially launched in Chennai with tele medicine and tele triange service.
    • 7. Tele Medicine will allow patients to consult physician over video for immediate interactive healthcare.
  • Venture Capitalist Vinod Khosla sees a pathway to help poor
    Vinod Khosla, the billionaire venture capitalist & co-founder of sun micro system, was already among worlds richest man when he invested a few years ago in SKS Microfinance, a lender to poor women's in INDIA.
  • 8. Charitable activities & venture capital investing has been a main stay for some Indian business families like tatas & for technology enterpreneures like aziz premji of Wipro, the Bangalore outsourcing firm .
    But many others have given very little.
    A recent Bain & Co study estimated that Indians give much less as a percentage of the country’s gross domestic product than America.
  • 9. Nestle to set up F & B facility in Himachal
    Dairy products major Nestle India will set a food and beverage unit in Himachal Pradesh with an outlay of Rs. 250 crore.
    Nestle has identify 30 acres of land near talewal in una district for setting up its facility.
  • 10. Google to tap SME space
    Having already doubled its small & medium enterprise customer base in India within a year.
    Google is now aggressively trying to reach out to entire sector for online advertising.
    India has estimated 35 millions SMEs, out of which 200000 have online presence through domains, sub domains & blogs
