  3. 3. IntroductionIt is a third person action adventure/Beat’em up game which is inspired from the concept of the“The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse”. The player plays as one of the Horsemen , WAR &engagesin level based puzzles, combat, cinematic and exploration in the game. This game is available inplatforms on Xbox360, Play station 3 and PC.I. Formal elements Player o It’s a single player game. o The main character of this game is War, one of the four horsemen. o player’s interaction with the game is mainly “Player vs. Environment (PVE)” Objectives o Primary objective –The primary objective of the game is CAPTURE. The character has to capture and kill various enemies in the game. o Secondary objectives- the secondary objectives of the game include exploration and solution. The character has to explore various parts of the world to complete his primary objective by solving various puzzles in the game. Procedure o Actions  The character can move, jump & grapple in the game.  The character can perform a glide in the air.  The character can perform close range attacksusing swords or scythes or gauntlets. (Pressing the buttons in a particular order will perform a combo)  The character can perform long range attacks using a crossblade and a handgun.  The character can perform instant kill on smaller enemies.  The character can pick and throw objects.  The character can swim in the water.  The character can perform a finishing combo once the enemy’s health is very low.  The character can collect various types of collectibles. o System procedures  The player can pause the game.  The player can save and load the game.  The player can change the video, audio and control settingsMangesh ThombareGame analysis Page 3
  4. 4.  Can assign weapons, abilities and items in given slots.  The player can skip the cinematic in the game.  The player can go online to check his achievements Rules  The character dies if the health meter is empty.  The character can use “RAGE” mode only when the wrath meter is full.  The character regains his powers throughout the game, which play important role in the game as they enable him to access locked areas of the world.  The character can use combos only if they are unlocked. ResourcesThe player has 3 resources mainly called health souls, wrath souls and currency souls. - The health souls refills the health meter. - The wrath souls refills the wrath meter. - The currency souls are used to unlock various combos. Conflicts - Enemies The character faces enemies almost all the time. There are various types of small enemies and around 10 boss enemies. - Puzzles- The player has to solve lot of puzzles throughout the game in order to advance in the game. - Regaining the powers- the character has to regain his powers in order to kill the main boss enemies and explore the areas where he cannot access if he doesn’t have the particular power. Dramatic elements Challenges - Dexterity- As the game uses beat’em up pattern in the game, the player has to attack quickly and dodge quickly to survive in the game. - Adaptability – The player has to adapt himself as the enemies keep changing in types and the powers. - The game’s difficulty goes on increasing as player advances in the game. - Exploration-The player has to explore the different parts of the world using his powers. - Puzzles- the player has to solve puzzles in order to get access to the next levels and unexplored areas of the world. Player - Type of players who would play this games are as follows – - The player type is mainly Agon i.e. A killer and an achiever mostly. Premise Who: The 1st Horseman of Apocalypse called “WAR”. He has various kinds of weapons such as swords, scythes, crossblade and gun which he uses to kill the enemies throughout the gam Where: The game takes place on earth which has been destroyed because of an premature apocalypse What: War is trying to find out the main culprit behind the premature apocalypse. Why: War is trying to find out who caused the destruction of earth for which he is being accused for. When: the time is Post apocalypse How: the war explores various parts of earth kills various enemies, demons and angels. Story Darksiders is a story driven from the concept of the “Apocalypse” and its “Four horsemen”. The story plays a vital role in this game as it motivates the player to proceed further in the game. . With the apocalypse just taken place, and the Earth destroyed, War has been accused by the Charred Council for the cause of the Apocalypse. War, sentenced to be destroyed, makes a deal to be placed back on Earth to find out who was behind it and is chained to The Watcher. Caught in a never-ending war between angels and demons, 100 years have passed, and Earth bears little resemblance to the world we know. War has lost much of his power, including his horse Ruin and must find out where the other horsemen are, and who misled them into starting the final battle.   6. 6. o Primary -  War – He is the main protagonist of the game, who is feared by both factions, Angels and Demons, he is well known as “The Rider of the Red horse “or one of “The Four Horsemen” of the Apocalypse.  Samael – A demon of immense power, who helps War in his journey and gives him the most of the objectives.  Watcher – Served the Charred council and was intact with War as a keeper. He helped War in some situations with knowledge but his main objective was to watch over War for any type of betrayal.  Destroyer –serves as primary antagonist in the game. He was also responsible for triggering the apocalypse  Uriel – Was an angel and a true follower of Abaddon. She cursed War, as she blamed him and wanted revenge for the fall of the Hellguards and Abaddon. She took over charge of the Hellguards after the fall of Abaddon.  Azrael – He is also known as “The Angel of Death”; he conspired with destroyer for the premature start of the Apocalypse. He helps  Ulthane- creator of the earth who created the mightiest sword “Armageddon Blade” which was used to break the “Seven Seal”. He met War and helped him to reforge the Armageddon blade to slay the “Destroyer”. o Secondary –  Ruin- Its War’s Horse which can be summoned by War at any time after its freed from the Ashland.  Straga – He is the general of dark army who defeated War and Abaddon at the battle of Armageddon. He is considered the mightiest of the entire Destroyer’s chosen one.  Silithia – One of the Destroyers’s chosen whom War had to kill to gain its heart, looks like a demonic spider. She feeds any trespassers to her children and keeps the special ones to herself.  Charred council – Also known as the “Old One”, are the mediators between Heaven and Hell. They maintain the balance between both sides and also were the ones who command the “Four Horsemen”.Mangesh ThombareGame analysis Page 6
  7. 7.  Griever – A large demon insect who is one of the chosen ones of the Destroyer. She also controls bunch of swarms to her advantage and she can also beam powerful laser at her enemies.  Stygian – Is a gigantic and the most powerful Ashworm in Ashlands, who is kept captive by the low level demons. It is also one of the Chosen of the destroyer.  Tiamat – Also known as the “Dusk Queen” is the first boss and the one of the Chosen, whom War had to deal with. She looks like a giant blood sucking bat that was located at Twilight Cathedral  Vulgrim – A demon merchant who demands souls from its clients in exchange for his products. He provided War with items and upgrades and also provides a quick transport through portals, known as “serpent Holes”. Dramatic arc - At the beginning, the game is Story driven. - Later on the, the player faces obstacles & enemies which are tough to kill due to lack of powers of War. Once War gets all his powers they become easier to kill. - The tension player faces is higher in the beginning and eventually decreases. This is because War has lost his powers and abilities which he has to regain. Once War gets his all power and weapons back, the Tension decreases as enemies can be killed easily. - The Boss fights are very exciting. There is a conflict in player’s mind weather to attack small enemies or main boss. - There is lot of exploration in the game which is sometimes boring, as player has to go through same areas again and again.Mangesh ThombareGame analysis Page 7
