Learning From Movie - Rab Ne Banadi Jodi - Presentation Transcript

  1. December 2008 There is a great impact of Movie on our daily life. Though we see movie for entertainment but few movies are a source of great learning. The series ‘LEARNING FROM MOVIE’ is an effort to explore learning from Such Movies. RAB NE BANADI JODI LEARNINGFROMMOVIE (A MATCH MADE BY GOD) Prepared by, Kaushal Mandalia Mandalia.kaushal@in.com LE [Type the company address] Page 1
  2. Let me touch upon the overall Review of the Movie First. There was lot of expectation from Rab Ne Banadi Jodi, but movie seems AVERAGE. I don’t convince with the fact that ordinary people are so ordinary that they live too simple life. They don’t talk or express their feelings much. Take reference of Dasvidaniya or Rab ne Banadi Jodi and check the personality portrayed of an Ordinary Man. I don’t see the possibility of survival for such people on this highly competitive and uncertain global environment. Music was Average and Dancing Sequences were good, Thanks to the magic touch of Shamak Daver and his awesome choreography. The Character of Shahrukh is oscillating like a pendulum between ‘being TOO Simple’ and ‘Being Too Weird’. The emotions are typical Yash Raj's and Karan Johar’s Trademark Emotion as they shown in DDLJ, Mohabbatein and K3G. Apart from all these critics, this movie has touched on one of the most critical CHANGE. and important LEARNING that can be described in one world – Bringing CHANGE It’s very important to understand the story in nutshell before we explore the learning from it. Mr. Suri (Shahrukh) an ordinary man is working in a Power Company, Punjab Power. He went to attend a marriage function where accidently he happened to get married with a modern and bubbly girl Tania. Marriage was a result of mishap in the life of Tania and it was a compromise. Tania Admitted Mr. Suri that she won’t be able to love him. To get her love back and make her happy, Mr. Suri changed himself to Mr. Raj who is of course a modern, stylish and a flirt. Tania started liking Raj but she did not know that Mr. Raj and Mr. Suri are same. We must be the Change, We Wish to See in the World Mahatma Gandhi
  3. July 31, 1883, Mahatma Gandhi was thrown out of First Class Compartment. He was shattered with the behavior of British Officers. He took the mission of throwing out Britishers from the Nation. But to turn this change into reality he had bring this change to himself first. The logic is true for Rab Ne Banadi Jodi too. Mr. Suri (Shahrukh) wanted to bring change in Tania’s Life. He wants Tania to be happy. To bring that change, he became the part of the change first. He changed the way he looked. As Mr. Suri he was typical ordinary man but as Mr. Raj he brings the image of today’s youth. Most changes are rejected at first level and resisted by many. The process of brining change is always gradual. You must have patience and perseverance. No revolution is a result of One day’s Process. You can found this message in one of the song of Rab Ne Banadi Jodi – Haule Haule se Dua Lagti Hai…. Tu Sabar to Kar To Kar Mere Yaar…. Listen this song carefully and think on its lyrics. you listen this song Let’s imagine that you have a water tank with a capacity of 1000 Liters. You have been given a task of changing the color of water to BLUE. You have one limitation. You can only put 2 drops of Blue Dye per Day. The first day when you put 2 drops of Blue Dye in 1000 Liter Water Tank, You won’t see significant change in color of Water. Though the change is not visible, you can take sample of that water and see the changes in electron microscope. You carry this exercise for another 2-3 days, but you won’t be able to see any significant change. You may think of three option – 1) You presume that dye is not working because you don’t see the result. You may wish to change the DYE (Choosing another alternative) OR 2) Give up (Stop Trying) and 3) Have Faith, Patience and Perseverance and keep on continuing to drop 2 drops of Blue Dye Every day. Do you see the relevance of this example to your daily decision about your own life? The first two alternative never give you result. No Visible Change does not mean No Change at All. Remember, “Haule Haule se Dua Lagti Hai, Haule Haule se Dawa Lagti Hai”……. Every Big Change is sum total of small changes that you bring in your daily life. If we expect changes in other people, we must change ourselves first. Input and Output are directly proportionate to each other. If desired outcome is positive, input should be also positive. Your Son or Daughter is not obedient and you want to bring positive change in his/her behavior, you must change yourself first. You keep on finding fault in your family member keeping in mind that one day they will realize, you are making a big mistake. Your input is negative and your desired outcome is positive. It never works. If you input wood, output will never be steel. Mr Suri (Shahrukh)’s desired change was happiness of Tania, desired output was positive, hence he changed himself. He changed his boring outlook and became youthful, energetic and happy. Only Happy Suri can see Happy Tania.
  4. The potential of the average person is like a huge ocean unsailed, a new continent unexplored, a world of possibilities waiting to be released and channeled toward some great good.” Everyone think of changing the world, but no one think about changing himself. Input and output are directly proportionate. If you want positive outcome, your input must be positive. It is easy to be preachy about change. It is easy to tell others to change their habits, attitudes, and behavior. But one can only make partial adjustments to one’s personality. And of course, that requires loads of Inspiration. Bringing Change is like changing the color of 1000 Liter Water. If you show courage like Mr. Suri from Punjab Power (Shahrukh) to accept the change, Success is GUARANTEED.
