  • Why webquests can be useful in EFL? M. Alba Barahona D.
  • What is a webquest? A Webquest is “an inquiry-oriented activity in which most or all of the information used by learners is drawn from the Web. WebQuests are designed to use learners'time well, to focus on using information rather than looking for it, and to support learners' thinking at the levels of analysis, synthesis, and evaluation (Dodge, 1995).”
  • Examples  English Speaking Countries  Podcasts  Frankestein  Fruit and vegetables  Trip to London  Teen Magazine
  • Model for writing webquests  Dodge (1995) proposed a model for writing Webquests. This model considers five components: an introduction (why do this activity), tasks (what is supposed to be accomplished), process (how to go about it), and an evaluative/concluding section. Dodge (2001) proposes the following principles when designing a webquest: “find great sites; orchestrate your learners and resources; challenge your learners to think; use the medium and Scaffold high expectations.  See Isabel Perez’ Model

  • Why in EFL?  Input: Exposure to Authentic material  Output: Different Products can be the result of
  • Why in EFL?  EFL webquests should promote an integrated approach to communicative, realistic and functional SLA.  Task-based second language acquisition with the help of Internet resources
