Outcomes Assessment at LaGuardia is designed to: Assess institutional effectiveness Assess student growth over time and use resultant data to improve our pedagogies and programs Assess student achievement of programmatic competencies Assess student achievement of general education core competencies
The Assessment Process As part of Periodic Program Review, a sampling of student work will be reviewed Student work from the ePortfolios will be assessed utilizing the rubrics developed for each core competency Students deposit work from designated courses into the ePortfolio Assessment area. This work is pulled and read against college rubrics by interdisciplinary teams. Eventually, data will be returned to programs for them to figure out what steps to take in consultation with Academic Affairs.
Who is Involved? Assessment Leadership Team Administrators, Faculty, and student Program Directors Charged with relating assessment information to their colleagues Assessment happens in the major. Have developed grids, implementation plans, general competency assignments, and data collection plans. Faculty On the ground work with students to deposit work and to talk about competencies. Students Responsible for depositing work into the Assessment area of the ePortfolio
Using the ePortfolio Collect student work Make work accessible to faculty for classroom assessment purposes Making work accessible anonymously to programs for Program Assessment Involve students in the process of reflection self-assessment
