• 1. THE FORO AND THE PODCAST
Ávila, Lirauly
Landaeta, M. Liliana
• 2. THE PODCAST
A podcast is an audio or video program formatted to be played on the iPod or on internet through the computer. Podcasts are shows, similar to the radio or TV shows, that are produced by professionals or amateurs and posted to the Internet for download and listen. The name derives from the combination of broadcast and iPod.
• 3. ORIGINS OFTHE PODCAST
The origin of podcasting has been largely attributed to the popularity of blogs and blogging and the creation of RSS (Really Simple Syndication). RSS allows web users to view updated information on their computers through feed readers without having to visit websites or sources of information; it appeared in 2004.
• 4. WHY PODCASTING IS SO POPULAR
Listening convenience
With podcasts, you can download and listen to audio files at your own convenience. For example with radio programs, you don’t need to be tuned in to a specific radio channel at a specific time. If the program is available as a podcast, all you need to do is download it, add it to your play list and listen to it whenever you feel like.
No Advertising
Podcasting gives the listeners freedom from advertising which has become an integral part of broadcasting.
• 5. WHY PODCASTING IS SO POPULAR
Easy creation and distribution
Podcasting also offers individuals the ability to create their own podcasts.
• 6. HOW TO MAKE A PODCAST
Create your audio content: The audio you want to create, you can use the audacity program; a program created to edit, record audio and convert it into mp3 file.
Convert the file to MP3 format:Once you have your audio content, you need to save it in MP3 format. MP3 is the format to create podcasts.
Publish your MP3 : Save your MP3 files to your web server.
Create your podcast newsfeed: Podcast feeds are RSS files that describe your podcast, along with information for each show. An RSS file is just a text file that links to your MP3 file.
• 8. REALLY SIMPLE SYNDICATION
RSS files are one of the most widely used XML formats on the Web. They provide an open format for syndicating all types of content, including podcasts.
RSS files let you create news feeds that can include headlines, links and article summaries from your website content. Because it is a standard format, others can then subscribe to your newsfeed with many popular tools, or incorporate your content into their site.
C:Documents and SettingsLilianaMy DocumentsPodcastRevolution.com - Podcast Hosting, Creation, Distribution.
