Synopsis For the last 13 years the members of the Royal Family have been living in the Flowers Exclusion Zone, which is the worst sign of the authoritarian country Britain has become. Jack Barker, Cromwell Party leader and Prime Minister, is exhausted after 13 years in office, and wants out. The New Conservative Party elects "Boy" English as its new leader; Boy promises to restore the monarchy. The Queen does not want to return to public life; she tells her family she has decided to abdicate. With the Queen's abdication, Charles will now become King Charles III - but Camilla will only be his consort, not his Queen. Charles refuses to become King unless Camilla is his Queen. William then offers, too eagerly for the Queen's liking, to reign in his father's place. Enter Graham Cracknall, who claims to be the son of Charles and Camilla. Graham visits Charles and Camilla; the whole family takes an instant dislike to him - particularly after he claims that he, not William, is second in line to the throne after Charles.
The Queen and Prince Philip After living in exile for thirteen years, the Queen, who is eigthy, does not want to return to public life; she tells her family she has decided to abdicate. Prince Philip, her husband, suffered a debilitating stroke two years earlier, and is now being (badly) cared for in an old people’s home.
Prince Charles and Camilla Prince Charles is happy, living with Camilla in their tiny council house. He spends his time gardening and writing his tortured autobiography. With the Queen’s abdication, he will become King Charles III - but Camilla will only be his consort, not his Queen. Charles refuses to become King unless Camilla is his Queen. Camilla occupies herself in doing as little as possible. She smokes a lot. She is tired of living in exile and wants to be free. She is aware that British society does not like her.
Prince William and Prince Harry William is the eldest and the most responsible of the two brothers. When his father, Prince Charles, refuses to be King, he offers to do the job. Harry is still very inmature. He likes going to parties and being the centre of attention.
