  • ENERGY STAR Rating - 2010The Sears Holdings’ Hoffman Estates Support Center located in Hoffman Estates, Ill., qualified for the prestigious ENERGY STAR rating with a score of 83. To qualify for the ENERGY STAR rating, a building’s energy performance must score in the top 25 percent based on the EPA's National Energy Performance Rating System. To determine the performance of a facility, the EPA compares energy use among other, similar types of nationwide facilities on a scale of 1-100. Buildings that achieve a score of 75 or higher may be eligible for this ENERGY STAR rating. Commercial buildings that earn the ENERGY STAR rating use an average of 35 percent less energy than typical buildings and also release 35 percent less carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.
