What kind of gear do you need?
Audio recorder
- Olympus 5200 or 6200
- About $50
- Connects to PC or Mac
- Built-in microphone
- CD quality recording
Point-and-shoot camera
- Canon models range from about $180 to $300
- They shoot decent video at 640x480 and 30 fps
- Still-photo quality is good enough to print
What kind of software do you need?
Software (Win or Mac)
- Audio editing: Audacity (totally FREE)
- Slideshows: Soundslides ($40 or $70)
- Video editing: Windows Movie Maker or iMovie (both FREE)
- Convert file types: “Switch” (free version)
- Photo editing: Photoshop preferred, or try Gimpshop (FREE)
How to publish online
- At WordPress.com, anyone can start a blog (free!) in minutes
- More professional than Blogger, LiveJournal, etc.
- Many themes to choose from
- Easy to transfer the blog to your own domain (yourname.com) when you’re ready!
