Hedge Fund & Finance Professionals to Rock Out in Support of ALTSO's Work To Treat Children With Limb
Disabilities in Nepal at The Cutting Room (44 E 32nd St, NY) – 6pm-10pm, $20 cover
In the wake of multiple devastating earthquakes in Nepal’s capital city, Kathmandu, and surrounding areas, the desperation for aid in the country is catastrophic. With nearly 9,000 fatalities and over 23,000 injured, the communities will not soon find relief from the disaster’s effects.
ALTSO has been partnered with Asha Apanga Kendra (Hope Disability Centre) in Gulmi, Nepal since 2009 providing free orthopedic care – including prosthetic limbs, orthotic devices, mobility aids, corrective surgery and rehabilitative care – to children suffering from limb disabilities. Due to the recent earthquakes, the number of children who will require orthopedic care in the near future is expected to increase.
Founded in 2003, ALTSO’s mission is to offer children who have lost their limbs in traumatic accidents or suffer from congenital limb disabilities the physical capabilities to access the opportunities and self-esteem earned through education, work and mobility. To date ALTSO has provided free orthopedic care to more than 13,000 children in developing countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America.
On Tuesday, June 23rd ALTSO is hosting a concert to benefit children in Nepal and the anticipated influx of need for orthopedic care in the country. Concertgoers’ $20 cover will be donated directly to providing free medical care to children in Nepal. “We can really make a difference for these children, many of whom have had their lives totally shattered by last months earthquakes,” says Gabriella Mueller, Executive Director of ALTSO. “At ALTSO we see how much power even the smallest donation can have because it means giving kids the gift of their freedom.”
The benefit will run from 6pm to 10pm at The Cutting Room (32nd Street, between Park and Madison Avenues.) The Cause, including members Greg Dabal and Bill Maher of Credit Suisse and Chris Caruso of Pangaea Business Solutions and The Warriors From Mars, including John Ivanac of BlackRock and Justin Lepone, and Titan Durty will be among the bands performing. “We are delighted to be part of the line up,” says Greg Dabal. “Raising money for ALTSO to support all the important work that they do, especially right now in Nepal with the urgent need on the ground.”
