  • Participles as AdjectivesThey are formed by adding D or ING at the end of the word: Amaze --- amazed ---- amazing Bore ---- bored ---- boring Fascinate -- fascinated -- fascinating
  • When you refer to the receiver, add –D The receiver receives the feeling or the emotion, the past participle serves as an adjective formed from the passive form of the verb.
  • When you refer to the receiver, add –D Example: I’m bored with this book. The movie was way better for me. ( The receiver is the person speaking. The person feels boredom while reading )
  • When referring to the source add---ING  The source refers to the origin of the feeling or emotion. The present participle serves as an adjective formed from an active verb.
  • When referring to the source, add---ING Example:  Boring films put people to sleep.  (The source of the boredom are the films. The films causes people to be bored)
