Beverly allitt

  1. 1. A.K.A- Angelof death
  2. 2. Beverly Allitt was diagnosed with Munchausen byProxy Syndrome this syndrome consist of injuries toone self or other in order to gain attention. As a childAllitt would wear bandages over “wounds” butwould not let anyone examine them. Beverly hadconvinced a doctor to remove her healthy appendixthen picked at the surgical scar to keep it fromhealing. She would eventual turn to “doctor-hopping” as the medical examiners would learn thatshe was only seeking attention.
  3. 3. Allitts’ Munchausen Syndrome only got worse aspeople would pay less attention to her. In order toreceive the attention she desired Allitt would doanything. She went to train as a nurse and even thoughshe had terrible strings of absence and poor scores Allittwas given a temporary six-month contract at a highlyunder staffed hospital. Working in the children’s wardwere two nurses during the day and oneat night. Needing the help this is whereAllitt was assigned.
  4. 4. She always seemed to be alone with the children whenthey went into cardiac arrest. On February 21, 1991Allitt claimed the life of seven-month-old Liam Taylor. She would claim 3 more lives, Attempt to murder 3more children, and cause bodily harm to 6 otherchildren before being arrested in November 1991.
  5. 5. Allitt’s only motive was to seek the attention that shecraved. She tried to receive this attention by selfinflicted wounds and when that stopped working shemoved on to children.
  6. 6. Overdoses of insulin, Lignocaineand Potassium
  7. 7. •Adolescence ranging from seven weeks old to 11 years old•Many suffered chest infections
  8. 8. 15 month old Claire Peck, Allitt’s last victim had an autopsy done whichrevealed a high level of potassium in her blood. They also foundlignocaine which is used for cardiac arrest and had never been used in ababy. Upon further examination of some other cases from Allitt’s wardthey found high doses of insulin and that Allitt had reported the key to theinsulin fridge missing. While looking at the daily nursing log the foundthat some pages were missing. These missing pages were later found inAllitt’s apartment. The detectives on the case found 25 suspicious episodesinvolving 13 victims 4 of which had died. what lead detectives to the killerwas the link between the victims. They had all been cared for by onlyAllitt.
  9. 9. On May 23, 1993 BeverlyAllitt was charged withthe murder of fourchildren and attemptedmurder of multipleothers and sentenced to13 life sentences andmust serve atleast 28years in prison.
  10. 10.  Dress presentable Look charming Polite Gain their victims trust
  11. 11. Website would not work
  12. 12. I was more appalled than surprised by how cruel someone could be to achild and their families and yet get so little time (in my opinion) in jail. Iwas surprised though to learn how much damage a person can do insuch a small amount of time. I was also surprised to learn that mostserial killers are just like normal people presentable, charming, andpolite.
