IEEE International Conference onVolume , Issue , 26-28 March 2007 Page(s):134 - 140Digital Object Identifier 10.1109/RFID.2007.346161Summary:In this paper, we proposed an infant monitoring system to reduce the potentialrisks for sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). This system can be used for infants at homeor in a hospital nursery room. The system consists of carbon dioxide (CO 2 ) sensors andactive radio frequency identification (RFID) technology. A commercial metal-oxide basedCO2 sensor was chosen and characterized in sensitivity, selectivity and humiditydependence. A proof-of-concept system, to be used for two infants in the same room, wasdesigned and assembled. The RFID transmission was accomplished with a wireless moduleat two different operating frequencies. The results are promising. A method for furtherpractical applications in a large nursery room is also discussed in details in this paper.INFANT INCUBATOR PARAMETER SENSING ANDMONITORING THROUGH WIRELESS We have Designed a system which comprises of essential hardware and software for monitoring the parameters through wirelessCommunication. To control the temperature of the air adjacent an infant in anincubator. is to circulate the air within an incubator with a blowerdriven by a motor and to vary the blower speed based on thetemperature of the air within the incubator. Thermistors for sensing air temperature and motor controllersare known and have been used to control the temperature of the airadjacent an infant in an incubator and to reduce the blower speed andthereby the associated noise in the enclosure. It is also necessary to monitor the CO2 Level in the incubator
  • 2. Frequently, so that if the CO2 Level increases, In such a case, aoxygen valve is also actuated , for the infant to breathe properly. We have to attach transducers to infants in an incubator todirectly measure the infants temperature, respiration rate, pulse, andother physiological parameters and sent to a remote computer throughwireless for processing the data.Sensors Involved in Measurement: 1.
