  • N O T FO R TR A IN IN G EXERCISE – Installing the Sample Files into the Hard Disk 1 Word 2002 Advanced  2002 Cheltenham Computer Training FOR USE AT THE LICENSED SITE(S) ONLY  Cheltenham Computer Training 1995-2002 - www.cctglobal.com Installing the Sample Files into the Hard Disk Installing the sample files • Use Windows Explorer to create a folder called Word 2002 Advanced Samples, in the My Documents folder. • If you are installing the sample files from the CD-ROM, place the CD-ROM in the CD drive and copy the files from the word_2002_advancedexercise_files to the My DocumentsWord 2002 Advanced Samples folder. If these files have been copied to your network server, then ask your trainer/supervisor for more information about how to copy these files to your PC’s hard disk. • Notes for tutors: The above instructions are for Windows 95 - and for Windows 98 that has not been set-up for a multi-user environment (with individual profiles). The instructions above may also require modification within a Windows NT environment. Where possible pre-install the relevant work files prior to use by students/delegates.

Note: If the task pane is visible when you start Word 2002, click the X button at the top right corner of the task pane to close the task pane: • From the main menu, choose File > Close OR from the top right corner of the page; below the title bar, click the X button to close the document window: • From the main menu, choose File > New OR from the main menu, choose View > Task Pane to display the New Document task pane. Note: If you choose View > Task Pane, the task pane will default to the last task pane that was used before the task pane was closed, but if you restart Word 2002 the task pane will return to the New Document task pane by default. • From the New from template section of the New Document task pane, select the General Templates option to display the Templates dialog box:

Note: The Document will change to the Print Layout view, which will display a visible header box at the top of the page, and a footer box at the bottom of the page. The Header and Footer toolbar will also be displayed: • Enter Using Headers and Footer into the Header field. • Highlight all the entered text and from the Main menu, choose Format > Font. • From the Font dialog box, change the following: Font - Arial Font Style - Bold Size - 16 • From the Header and Footer toolbar, click the Switch Between Header and Footer button to move to the footer field: • Enter - # - into the Footer field. • Highlight the # character and from the Header and Footer toolbar click the Insert Page Number button. • Highlight all the entered text and from the main menu, choose Format > Font.
