Introducing QuickBooks <ul><li>Using forms </li></ul><ul><ul><li>You record most of your daily business transactions on a QuickBooks form, which looks just like a paper form. i.e., invoices, checks </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Using lists </li></ul><ul><ul><li>The list is another basic feature. You fill out most entries by selecting from a list. Customer lists, vendor lists, employee lists, etc. </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Using registers </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Registers contain all the activity in one account. Cash, accounts receivable, accounts payable. </li></ul></ul>

Getting around in QuickBooks <ul><li>Manage your open windows </li></ul><ul><ul><li>QuickBooks displays one window at a time </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Using the menu bar </li></ul><ul><ul><li>You can find all the commands on the menu bar </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Using the icon bar </li></ul><ul><ul><li>The icon bar allows you to manage your business more quickly </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Using the navigation bar </li></ul><ul><ul><li>The navigation bar provides quick access to the centers and onscreen help. </li></ul></ul>

Getting around in QuickBooks <ul><li>Making the homepage your starting point </li></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>The homepage provides a flowchart, a graphical presentation of a workflow, organized in logical groups </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>The QuickBooks coach can guide you through the workflows on the home page. (see next slide) </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Notice the Vendor Center , Customer Center , and Employee Center buttons on the left & the corresponding arrows designating a flowchart of activities </li></ul></ul></ul></ul>

Exiting QuickBooks <ul><li>To exit QuickBooks </li></ul><ul><ul><li>From the File menu click close company </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Then click Exit </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><li>To make a backup copy </li></ul><ul><ul><li>From the File menu , choose save copy or backup </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Save the copy to a CD or USB drive </li></ul></ul></ul>
