1. Group Evaluation
Mainly good feedback came from our audience within our focus group; we got good views upon the
focus and variation of camera shots we have used. However, audiences said that they would have
preferred seeing more transitions such as crossfades and colour grading (vintage footage) to create
the realism which would have been effective in the video to compare to the lyrics. The audience said
that the music related to the visual performance, making the lyrics parallel to what we see. The mise
en scene was also commented on as they are style fitting to the music. The feedback presented us
with the audience’s opinions that the music video would make a successful real media product, due
to the narrative, emotion, characters portrayal.
Overall, as a group we successfully produced a performance narrative music video. The video also
has a linear narrative, a beginning, middle and end. To improve our video we would change the
range of shots we have used, creating more focused shots and a range of tilts, tracking and panning
shots. Taking in the audience feedback we would of included a band performance as we feel that
would of presented a stronger video narrative due to the song being from the band ‘Mumford &
Sons’. However, we found that the tripod we have used created great difficulty for us as it wouldn’t
move the way we intended it to. We also would have prepared a lot more, for example checking
rooms were free in order for us to film in them. The lyrics to the song could have been learnt at the
beginning of the video to create realism with the video. As a group we were happy with the final
outcome of our main product as it was constructed and produce to match real media products.
