    2. GUMSHOE’s Mission
      • Foster an appreciation and understanding of math and science among DC public school students.
      • Serve two student populations:
        • Tutoring students who struggle
        • Mentoring students who excel
      • Contribute to the Georgetown community by providing an opportunity for students who wish to utilize their knowledge to help others.
    3. Our Progress
      • Current Board

        • Corps of over 75 GUMSHOE members
          • MICP ~20 tutors
          • HD Woodson HS ~24 tutors
          • Coolidge HS ~20 tutors
          • Spark!Lab – 10 docents

      • Pre-K through 7 th grade
      • Exploratory Learning and Academic Tutoring
        • One-on-one and group tutoring
        • Homework help
        • Test & quiz preparation
      • Opportunities to work with younger children
      Schedule Friday 2:00pm – 4:00 pm Times include transportation
    7. CCPCS – Shaw Campus One-on-One and Group Tutoring -Grades 6-8 -Test & quiz preparation -math through Algebra 2 -biology, chemistry, physics -Mentorship opportunities Tentative Schedule Saturday 9:00 am – 11:15 am Times include transportation
    8. Meyers Institute for College Preparation (MICP) Programming -serve as teaching assistants in four math sessions for 8 th and 10 th graders with a reorganized level based curriculum Schedule Saturday 9:30am – 12:00 pm Academies hosted in the Walsh Building Future opportunities -more involvement with restructure of programming and curriculum -hosting GUMSHOE led math classes and review sessions

      • Use GUMSHOE simply as a resume booster
      • Be insecure about their abilities in math or science
      • Commit half-heartedly
      SHOULD NOT…
      • Training Sessions
        • Must attend at least 2 training sessions/semester
        • Partnerships: Kaplan, Teach for America, Academic Resources Department, etc.
      • Attendance
        • Cannot miss more than two tutoring sessions/semester
        • Must be punctual
      Commitment
    11. Board Positions Available in 2009
      • Site Coordinator (2 positions)
        • Each will supervise one GUMSHOE site and lead all co-curricular development with the school
        • Strongly preferred if able to accompany tutors to the site (Thurs OR Friday OR Saturday)
        • Must have been active in Spring 2009
        • Time Commitment: 3-4 hours/week
    12. National Museum of American History Docent Flexible Schedule Indicate interest on application
    13. Consortium Ambassadors Program
      • Visit D.C. high schools to talk about college experience and admissions
      • Flexible Schedule (volunteer as able)
      • Indicate interest on application
    14. Sponsored by GUMSHOE April 2010
      • Goals
      • to spark interest in the sciences among DC high school students
      • to introduce students to college life, especially with regard to study of the sciences
