    • The world’s biggest library!
    • Look up words
    • Read stories
    • Learn almost anything!
  • 5. Entertainment
    • Play games by yourself or with others
    • Listen to music
    • Watch video clips
    • Find out about your favorite sports team or movie stars!
  • 6. What are the DANGERS of the Internet?
    • Spam
    • Flaming
    • Cyberstalking
    • Spies
    • Getting hooked
  • 7. Spam
    • E-mail messages sent from someone you don’t know
    • Junk E-mail
    • Do not open these messages…do not answer them…DELETE THEM RIGHT AWAY!
  • 8. Flaming
    • Sending messages meant to hurt someone’s feelings.
    • Harassing or bullying someone online.
    • If someone does this to you:
    • Save the hurtful messages.
    • Tell your parents, teacher, or an adult you trust.
    • If you do this to someone else:
    • Remember that once you put it out there, you can never get it back.
    • Once it’s out there, it can be traced back to you.
  • 9. Cyberstalking
    • Stalking or harassing someone online
    • Someone you don’t know wants to find out things about you…so they can follow you around the Internet and maybe in real-life.
    • NEVER GIVE OUT YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION
    • *Your real name *Phone number
    • *Address *Birthdate *School name
    • KEEP YOUR PRIVATE LIFE PRIVATE!
  • 10. Spies
    • Watch where you go on the Internet and try to get information from you to give to other people.
    • Advertisements and spam often have this.
    • Watch out for:
    • Unfamiliar E-mails and attachments
    • Advertisements (ads) on websites
    • If you are not sure about something…
    • … do not click on it!
  • 11. Getting Hooked
    • The Internet can become addicting. It has been known to take over people’s lives.
    • People who are hooked:
    • Use the Internet constantly.
    • Don’t go outside to play.
    • Spend more time online than with friends.
    • Are attached to their computer 24/7.
    • The Internet should enrich your life, not rule it!
