    • 1. Geog Homework - Evaluation
    • 2. You will need- Pg 13-16 of your coastal handout (given onThursday)- Your textbook
    • 3. Lesson ObjectivesBy the end of this lesson, you will be able to- Explain what evaluation involves- Describe the different components of evaluation- Evaluate the effectiveness of gabions inprotecting a coast from erosion.
    • 4. evaluate/ih-val-yoo-eyt/To judge the value of something
    • 5. As profound as the term sounds...we have beenevaluating everyday!
    • 6. Examples of day-to-day evaluation: Which is the best Handphone model? Is that movie good? Which subject is the easiest to score? Should we go for KFC or McDonalds today? Which canteen store is better?
    • 7. what do we do when weevaluate?- compare and weigh which is better- decide what is the worth of something
    • 8. how do weevaluate?
    • 9. how do weevaluate? The next slide is a movie review of “TheHunger Games”, which is an example ofevaluation.Determine what must one do when theyevaluate.
    • 10. Set in the future, 16-year-old Katniss Everdeen is living with her mother andlittle sister in whats left of North America, in one of 12 districts all being runby the Capitol. Despite mastering the skill of hunting and trapping edibleplants, Katniss still struggles to keep her family from going hungry. Each year, the names of all residents between the ages of 12 and 18 areentered into a lottery and two names, one girl and one boy, are chosen atrandom from each district to compete in the televised Hunger Games. The24 children must try to kill each other off and the last one standing isrewarded by the Capitol with a feast of food. When her little sisters name isselected, Katniss steps up to take her place in the deadly competition. I can say that this was a must-see movie of the year. Scenery was accurateto the book and it was good to see that the arena in which they fought wasas it was described.I think one bad thing I wish they would have done was made the movie afew minutes longer in order to display correct and actual events in thebook. Such as where the Mockingjay Pin came from, possibly explainedevents in the movie better for those who havent read the book.
