  • 1. Name of Film The heading of this film is positioned in the middle and at the top of the page. This attracts a lot of attention from the user and is the first thing that my eye is drawn to on the page. Quote There is a quote from ‘Sugar’ magazine describing the film in a very positive way. This makes users of this website more persuaded to watch the film, especially if the quote is from one of their favourite magazines. Navigation Bar The navigation bar is actually located at the bottom of the page, rather than towards the top. The website is therefore challenging standard forms and conventions. Colour Scheme The colour scheme used on this page are quite basic, yet it is clear that there is a strong house style of white, pink and blue. The pink and blue here represent the ‘boy’ and ‘girl’ and so therefore fits in well with the theme of the film. Interactivity This slider at the bottom of the page can be moved back and forth, which then adjusts the image in the centre of the page. This is quite exciting for the user, and makes them feel as if they are part of the website in a way. Music There is music that plays automatically on the page. It shuffles songs from a playlist and allows users to skip to the next song if they get bored or simply want to listen to something else. The type of music appeals well to the film’s target audience of young teenagers, as it plays chart music of the Pop genre. DVD release date This is located underneath the quote. This is so that users of this website will see the name of the film, a positive quote and then be able to see when they can purchase it on DVD. The order of these three things are vital and help increase sales of the film. There is also an icon on the left advertising what the DVD looks like. Game The website offers users the chance to ‘shame’ one of their friends. It is a game where you can upload a photo and dress them in clothes for the opposite sex. This all links in well with the plot of the film, and also appeals well to their target audience.
  • 2. Name of Film The heading of this film has been positioned on the left and in a red font. This matches the house style of the film, making it consistent. The text for the heading is also quite large, which attracts attention from viewers easily. Actors’ Names The names of the main actors in the film have been positioned above the heading. This persuades users more to see the film if they notice that one of their favourite actors is in it. Navigation Bar The navigation bar is located at the top of the page. The background colour for the bar is black which I felt was slightly out of place. It is not one of the film’s house colours and probably would have looked better as red or a light blue so that it matches the rest of the colours used on the site. Billing Box The billing box has been positioned towards the bottom of the page, and made slightly translucent. This therefore does not detract attention from the viewers, yet it is still visible if users want to look at the legal information. DVD There is a small image of the film cover for the DVD. By having this on the website, users are therefore aware that they can now purchase the film. Tagline The tagline has been placed on the red banner in a white font. I feel that these are a good choice of colour as they contrast well and can be easily red by all users. The actual tagline also relates well to the film. Main Image The main actress is positioned in the centre of the page and quite large in size. She is an extremely well known actress and by having her positioned here, users are instantly going to notice her and want to see the film (if they like Jennifer Aniston). Email Updates Users are able to submit their email addresses and have email updates constantly sent to them about the latest films and movies. This increases the publicity for the company and allows them to gain a reliable audience.
  • 3. Name of Film The name of this film has been positioned in the centre, which attracts a lot of attention from viewers. Actors Names The names of the two lead actors are positioned at the top. They are two very well known people which is probably why their names have both been written in quite a large font to attract attention. Music There is an application which plays clips of songs from the film. This provides users with entertainment on the website, as well as being a form of advertising the soundtrack for the film, which can be purchased in shops. This increases the company’s sales because if a user hears a song and likes the sound of it, they will be persuaded to buy the soundtrack. Hyperlinks There is not a navigation bar on this website but a list of the different pages in the form of text hyperlinks. When users hover over these hyperlinks, they change to a slightly lighter shade of beige, therefore still staying consistent with their colour scheme. Having the links change colours like this increases the interactivity of the website and makes it much more entertaining for the user. Main Image The main image shows Hugh Grant with Drew Barrymore at a desk. She is holding a notepad, suggesting that Hugh Grant is helping her write the lyrics to a song. The way they are sitting quite close to each other suggest that this may be a romantic film and they will end up becoming a couple. Billing Box The billing box has been positioned towards the bottom of the page, and made slightly translucent. This therefore does not detract attention from the viewers, yet it is still visible if users want to look at the legal information. DVD There is an image of the film on DVD. When you click on this, you are directed to a page where you can purchase the DVD. This helps to increase the company’s sales as it means that users are much more likely to purchase the film online if they can rather than go to the shops and buy it.
