To allow application developers to build all aspects of an application within one development environment for better productivity. Developers don ’ t have to switch between many tools to build an application 2,3) Standards-based Declarative Framework - We brought together a standards-based declarative framework to allow people to quickly and visually assemble applications with the additional benefit of a declarative framework for multi-channel delivery. 4) · Unified Metadata Management & Customization - Metadata is captured throughout the lifecycle and allows business users to access a dictionary so they can evolve business applications. 5) Unified & Open Application Lifecycle Management - Open Application Lifecycle Management allows developers to use our tools and also bring in a variety of other technologies that they need to manage the development lifecycle. Additional Info Detail on unified metadata management: Because the application is defined declaratively, the definition of the business logic of the application, the definition of the user interface, the definition of the business rules, the definition of the business process, all of these aspects are captured in a common metadata dictionary. That metadata dictionary can be shared at development time by developers building the application but more importantly at run time, it can be customized by business users who get access to this metadata dictionary and they can modify aspects of the behavior of the application. This makes it a lot easier to evolve applications after they ’ ve been built.

Let developers use what they want to use — but also provide a complete framework so you can manage ALM consistently across your teams. EXAMPLE: This allows you to use tools like Subversion, CVS or Profor for source control, Jira for defect tracking, for example, or Ant and Maven for build and dependency management

One application calls another through a web service interface, for example, and the other application responds to it. EDA There’s also event-oriented design, which is around asynchronous behavior. An application has some business event that occurs. It published information out and then other applications or business processes need to adapt to it.
- Main Point : Summarize design goals for 11g Script With the 11g release of Fusion Middleware we focused on 5 key design themes 1. Single, Standards-based Event & Service Foundation 2. High Speed, Multi-Transport Service Bus - On top of this SCA foundation, we’ve built a high speed enterprise service bus that gives you flexibility in how you can deploy the service bus in an operational environment. · Additional detail: This flexibility is possible because the service bus allows you to use multiple transports for communication at the network level. 3. Unified Business Process Management - We unified system-oriented, human-oriented, and document-centric business processes into a single architecture and a single runtime environment. This unified platform helps optimize your processes, lower the exceptions you’ve been experiencing so your customer service, orders, etc. perform optimally. 4. Complex Event Processing & Activity Monitoring - We’ve introduced a new Complex Event Processing capability to collect business event information and run real-time calculations on it, giving you real-time visibility into what’s occurring within your operational environment. We also have activity monitoring so you can quickly adapt to those changes. 5) Integrated Governance & Policy Management - Finally, we’ve integrated a variety of governance technologies so you can manage your SOA and business policies across the entire lifecycle. This helps keep your SOA on track so you’re ultimately achieving the business goals of your SOA.
- MAIN POINT: The comprehensive offering the SOA Suite 11g is. (build) Regardless of whether you’re taking a bottom-up or top-down approach to SOA, there is a clear set of functionalities that you will need – and the Oracle SOA Suite provides all of these. Let’s start from the bottom here. You never start SOA from scratch – you want to reuse existing assets, be it legacy services, COTS, etc. or even interaction with your business partners. The first thing you need to do is to normalize these heterogeneous sources via adapters, or in the case of the external partners, a B2B gateway that provides all the security and framework required to extend your SOA beyond the boundaries of your enterprise. Once you have this normalization you need to enable data flows, in a reliable and flexible fashion. Among other things you want to virtualize all these data sources to ensure loose coupling and maximum flexibility as you move forward. Now that you have the necessary foundation you can start building new value, declaratively through orchestration of these assets. For example you could start building a brand new employee onboarding application that would leverage your existing PeopleSoft HR coupled with BMC Remedy and additional homegrown systems that used to be disconnected. And then you have a set of cross-functional requirements: You need to manage the assets developed along the way, and understand the relationships between these various components You need to secure these highly distributed applications You need of course to configure, manage and monitor these applications And then comes the visibility side of things: First, there is less and less value in looking at individual events or occurences. The true value and intelligence lies in the ability to correlate and make sense of the various patterns of occurences Second, you need the real-time and graphical tools to not only display but also react to conditions into the business data that transit through your applications Finally, what are the tools to design and build these? You really have 2 types of users here: business analysts and developers, both with their own skills and requirements.

- Main Point: Establish design themes that address the previous challenges Script : There are four key themes that drove the development for Oracle WebCenter Suite 11g, and help solve the key challenges we’ve just discussed: 1) Unify RIA, Web Sites, Enterprise Portal Development - Unify in a single framework the process for building rich internet applications, web sites and portals to address the challenges of using separate tools 2) Content, Application, Business Process Integration - Easily integrate content, applications and processes into your portal environment to simplify the environment, make it easy to find and share information and eliminate one-off integrations. 3) Social Computing Unified with Business Applications - Social computing capabilities so users can easily find information and connect with other people. Integrate these capabilities with business applications so processes become more efficient to address siloed productivity tool challenges. 4) Pre-Packaged, Rapidly Customizable Team Sites - Business users can get up and running quickly and easily create web sites for their teams, without involving IT which enables users to more easily work together without adding to the IT bottleneck.

Enables the development of Rich Internet Applications through dynamic user interfaces technologies, the Framework speeds the delivery of these next generation applications and portals that blend composite interfaces, social communities, web applications along with departmental and enterprise portals. It’s pervasive – ubiquitous any device (REST – php or HTML, perl, ruby, .NET – anything non-java) Composer and Enterprise Business Dictionary – need to interact with all the resources in the enterprise – pre-packaged integration with applications, content and rich media, business processes, and business intelligence in a role-specific way to speed user awareness of these critical resources. Composer allows users and site administrators edit or customize any page with a few simple clicks Social Computing Services – out-of-the-box, Enterprise 2.0 services such as wikis, blogs, RSS, mashups, tagging, linking, social networks, etc. WebCenter Spaces – ready to use application provides dynamic online communities to quickly share information, collaborate one new ideas and manage projects without waiting for IT to build a specialized solution.

You get higher reliability through the multiplicity of resources, and higher performance through parallelization. From this you address <click> efficiency with lower operational costs, competitiveness by enabling your business to outperform competitors with responsiveness and innovation, and <click> simplification by consolidating to a consistent foundation that has many synergies with the rest of the stack—particularly the Oracle stack.

At Oracle, we like to think of IdM as being composed of three distinct functional areas: We have Identity Administration which is all about user provisioning and role lifecycle management. Oracle Identity Manager and Oracle Role Manager are our two flagship products in the Id Admin space. Then we have Access Management which is all about access control – authentication, authorization, single sign on and federation. In addition, Oracle also offers next gen access management technologies for risk based access control and for fine grained authorizaton. OAM is our SSO and authentication engine.
