6. EARLY HISTORY OF CANADIAN IMMIGRATION
In the 1800s the Canadian government
recruited immigrants using posters. The
wanted to fulfil objectives of the national
policy which was to promote Canadian
industry, complete the national railway and
settle the west. This policy was made by
John A McDonalds and the conservation
government in 1873. They mainly targeted
USA, Britain and many parts of Europe
excluding French speaking countries such as
France Belgium or Switzerland.
