    • 6Australian Facebook Performance Report June 2013 Edition // Source: www.socialpulse.co#fbreport // research@theonlinecircle.com // www.theonlinecircle.com[ IntroductionWelcome to the 2013 Juneedition of the AustralianFacebook Performance Report. This is our second report for 2013 whichprovides success benchmarks to increaseyour understanding of the strategiesand tactics behind some of Australia’smost successful Facebook brand pages. The Facebook report uses data providedby SocialPulse™ (www.socialpulse.co) withmathematical and statistical foundationsproduced in consultation with 95th PercentilePty Ltd. (John Ward) and information analysedby the Online Circle Data team. The full report can be downloaded at:www.theonlinecircle.comSo what’s new?A few things have changed since our last reportin February.Facebook user numbers have gone up, mobileusage has also increased, Facebook boughtInstagram and launched Hashtags. However thegreatest impact didn’t come from Facebook butfrom the ASX.ASX - The Australian Securities ExchangeGuidance Note 8 was issued in March 2013and went into effect at the beginningof May. The mandate requires listed companiesto identify and monitor investor blogs, chat sites, forums and other social media sites (whetherpublic or member-only) that regularly containposts about their business. The listed company and its subsidiariesmust also have processes in place to acton misinformation and train employees tounderstand their responsibilities when postingand moderating the company’s content online. As a result, Facebook has extended its territoryfrom marketing teams to compliance teamsand company secretaries. If you are an ASX listed company make sure youhave a monitoring program. By the time youhear the thunder, it’s too late to build the ark!Considering the fact many holding companiesare not directly represented on Facebook butindirectly via their subsidiaries we have createda list of the top ASX listed companies.Along with the ASX graphic we have created2 other graphics. The top 30 Facebook Pagesby fans and the top 20 industries by numberof fans.We have reproduced the most engagingcontent for each category including the mostliked, commented and shared posts. We have also updated our report by broadeningsome categories to include even more brandpages.Last wordsThis report is not an opinion piece. The roleof this report is to provide ground work andnumerical benchmarks across Australian brandson Facebook. These numbers should guide youalong with other factors. In social media it is easyto mistake popularity for credibility.Data for this report was collected from our dataanalysis and visualisation software, Social Pulse™on 13, 20, 27 of May and June 3 and 10. Pleasereview the methodology at the end of the reportfor a clear understanding of each metric.Social Pulse™ provides social media analytics, competitive intelligence, consumer insights, financial calculations and ROI of social media. If you want to learn more about this software, register your interest at www.socialpulse.coIf you would like to be notified of future reportsvisit: www.theonlinecircle.comLucio RibeiroLead Strategist, Online Circle
