2. STORY PLOT
Old Fashioned Gothic Thriller themed trailer , will be aimed more
towards a creepy/eerie type of thriller such as ‘The Woman in
Black’ as opposed to the modern day slasher theme thriller
‘Halloween’.
Set in a cemetery
Film set upon old tale about two churches in the middle of the
cemetery, where 50 years ago 2 girls were kidnapped and no trace
was found until a mysterious grave was dug on the grass next to
the churches with their bodies buried underneath. The murderer
was not found. 50 years ago to the date, the tale reoccurs.
3. TARGET AUDIENCE
The film will be rated 15, therefore our target audience will be mainly this
age and above, and of the working to middle class. We will try and appeal to
a wider age range as we believe 15 and above will all enjoy viewing this
type of thriller as it has mature themes throughout. We have chosen this
class because they would usually be seen as the type to go to the cinemas
for leisure and they would usually have the exposable income to do so.
The film trailer will appeal to mainly a female audience due to the
characters in the film being mainly female, therefore they can relate more
towards the storyline. However, a male audience would also watch this film
because they may be interested within the genre of which the film focus’s
upon.
The primary audience that would view this film would primarily enjoy
horror and thriller type films in general, however a secondary type audience
maybe those who just want to watch a scary film due to the idea that it will
be released around the Halloween period. This is the audience that would
not particularly enjoy scary films, but would just want to view one for the
likelihood of becoming scared.
4. PRODUCTION & DISTRIBUTION
We would set our film to go on the market at major cinemas
such as Empire and Cineworld around the Halloween time of
year. This is because we believe many people will invest in
going to view a thriller film around this time of year because
Halloween is highlighted as being a frightening time of year
therefore people will want to be viewing a scary film to get
them in the mood.
We will advertise this film through the teaser trailer which
will appear on televisions and cinema screens, within a
month before the release date of the film. This will build up
an audience to view the film as they will be aware of what
the film is about and when it will be released. We will also
advertise our product through our film poster and film
magazine.
5. CONVENTIONS
To make our film similar to that of our aimed genre we are using
natural lighting as our trailer will be primarily based outdoors. Due
to filming during the winter, we have decided to film during a late
afternoon/evening so the atmosphere will have a creepy feel, as the
lighting will be dark and dingy.
We will use hand held camera movement to put forward the sense
of action within the trailer, and a tracking shot to put forward that
someone is following the main characters.
Costume will be casual high street fashion for the characters which
get kidnapped, to represent normal teenage girls of today.
