He is a qualified lawyer and has worked for city firms in London, including Freshfields and Farrer & Co. Alexander oversees the ongoing management of the business, the company’s development nationally and internationally as well as the Group’s marketing activities. Alexander still works with an international client base of high net worth private clients and speaks English, Spanish and French. 6 Stijn Teeuwen partner & co - founder Stijn has been living in Spain since 2002 and co-founded Lucas Fox in 2005. He trained as a lawyer and went on to found start-ups in the Netherlands and different areas of the Spanish coast. He specializes in high value commercial and residential property and his main roles at Lucas Fox are the financial management of the company and business development with an emphasis on commercial and investment property. Stijn speaks Dutch, English, Spanish and German. Tom Maidment partner , lucas fox costa brava Tom is Director of Lucas Fox’s Girona / Costa Brava business. Since becoming a Partner in 2007 Tom has developed Lucas Fox Costa Brava into one of the region’s most successful real estate agencies and in recent years has secured some of the company’s largest residential sales transactions. Prior to joining Lucas Fox Tom worked for 12 years in the Sports Marketing industry in London, managing high profile sponsorship and PR campaigns. Tom speaks English, Spanish and French. Maxim Rettich partner , lucas fox ibiza Maxim arrived on the Costa del Sol in 1999 where he began his Real Estate career working alongside the developer of Torrequebrada Hills. In 2002 he moved to Barcelona where he opened ‘CDLC Barcelona’, Spain’s leading Restaurant & Lounge club. Prior to this, Rafael worked for 14 years in property refurbishment. Aimar Valls Stephen Lahiri head of commercial & investment property partner , lucas fox marbella Aimar has more than 15 years experience within the commercial property market with Christies & Co and Busquets. Jason Ham Rafael Rosendo director , lucas fox maresme Charlotte Rodriguez head of business development Prior to moving to Spain, Jason worked as a property lawyer in the UK for almost 20 years, including ten years as a commercial property partner in central London. In September 2012 he moved to Ibiza to take up the post of Head of Business Development at Lucas Fox. Since his arrival, Jason has been busy leveraging his extensive contacts in London, China and the Far East, ensuring that the Lucas Fox profile is raised both internationally and closer to home in his beloved Ibiza. Rafael joined Lucas Fox as a sales agent in 2010 after more than a decade working in the industry in the USA. In 2013 he became Director of Lucas Fox Maresme, based at its office in Alella, just north of Barcelona. Rafael is licensed in Real Estate, Property Management & Title Insurance and is officially recognized by the API (Agentes de la Propiedad Inmobiliaria”), Spain’s only real estate regulatory body. Prior to her move to Spain 15 years ago, Charlotte was a well-established member of the United Kingdom’s hunting & shooting establishment and for several years, she owned her own property company in central London, specialising in high-end homes. Charlotte joined Lucas Fox in 2011, bringing her wealth of experience to help clients look for sporting, country, equestrian or wine estates in Spain.   5. 5. BARCELONA MARESME COAST Barcelona continues to be one of Europe’s most exciting and innovative cities. Since the Olympics in ‘92, the city has welcomed a growing international community, attracted to its excellent beaches, quality of life, good year-round climate, excellent transport infrastructure and relatively low property prices compared to many northern European cities. Given the obvious attractions of living in the city, Barcelona property remains a viable long-term investment, either as a second home, rental or permanent residence. Prices are currently at their lowest for 5 years, on average 30% less than in 2007 and the increased number of sales transactions in the market seems to suggest that residential property sales prices are bottoming out. Lucas Fox has its head office in the centre of Barcelona and its first ‘Property Lounge’ opened there in June 2013. The Maresme coast lies just to the north of Barcelona and south of the Costa Brava and has about 50km of long, sandy beaches. The Serralada Litoral Natural Park provides a stunning backdrop to this attractive wine growing area. Its pretty villages, easy commute to Barcelona and proximity to two airports has made it a popular destination for international families relocating to Barcelona. IBIZA Lucas Fox Ibiza covers all areas of the island, but the South West and San José has continually proven to be the most popular area for foreign buyers attracted by its pristine beaches such as Cala Jondal, Cala Vedella and Cala Comte, excellent restaurants and proximity to the airport. Increasingly, families are attracted to the Northern coast and its quaint villages such as Puerto San Miguel and Portinatx. Many believe that Ibiza had its recovery year in 2012, a clear sign being the increase in off-plan purchases, proving the island’s reputation as a safe haven for real estate investment. Increasingly, non-European buyers (in particular American, Chinese and Asian buyers) are being attracted by the Ibiza lifestyle. The Lucas Fox Ibiza property portfolio includes new-build designer villas with sea views, sea front mansions, classic Ibicenco-style country houses (Fincas) set in their own land and modern penthouse apartments overlooking marinas and the sea. MARBELLA Lucas Fox Marbella was established in 2013 with a primary focus on the exclusive areas such as La Zagaleta, Golden Mile, Sierra Blanca, Marbella, Nuevo Andalucia, Los Flamingos and Puerto Banus. The Lucas Fox property portfolio includes contemporary designer villas and luxury apartments priced up to 20 million euros. In common with the rest of Spain, property prices in Marbella have reduced significantly over the last 4 years. However, there are signs that over the last 6 months prices have started to stabilise. Properties in the region are still perceived as good value for money and prices are expected to stay stable at the top end of the market. Interest in the luxury end of the market from Asia has been particularly lively following the recent decision to grant automatic residency to non-EU nationals purchasing property in Spain over the value of 500,000 Euros. Although prices dropped slightly last year and during the first quarter of this year, there are signs that they have now stabilized and the number of transactions is on the increase. COUNTRY & SPORTING ESTATES The Country & Sporting Estates division of Lucas Fox was set up as a result of the increasing demand from international clients for large country properties with equestrian and sporting facilities. The portfolio includes country houses with existing stabling and land, polo estates, wine-growing estates, boutique hotels, equestrian centres, stud properties for breeding horses, private or commercial hunting estates, castles & palaces and working farms. The bulk of these country estates are situated in Andalucia, an area renowned for its agriculture, olive oil, hunting and horse breeding. The aim is provide advice and support to clients who want to get residency permits in Spain through property investments. The proposal is intended to encourage foreign investors to buy in Spain, thereby assisting the recovery of Spain’s property market. A key factor is that Spain is a party to the Schengen agreement, meaning that those with Spanish residency should be able to travel freely within the Schengen zone (a group of 26 European countries that have abolished passport and immigration controls at their common borders).
