    Assessment for Learning in Modern Languages - Presentation Transcript

    1. Associated Schools Group for Modern Languages Aim – To develop a greater understanding of the assessment process as a whole and a deeper understanding of the role of Assessment for Learning and it’s impact on pupils.
    2. Outcomes
      • For Pupils –
      • A better understanding of what and why they are learning
      • More meaningful dialogue with teachers
      • Increased confidence
      • For Staff –
      • Better communication and co-operation
      • Improved confidence
      • Research
    3. How did we start?
      • Badly! Don’t let it stop you.
      • Experts are not always the answer.
      • Don’t expect everyone to be as keen as you.
    4. The Way Forward?
      • Research – LTS website
      • Reading Materials – The Black Box books, Shirley Clarke etc
      • Learn from other colleagues. Our Primary colleagues have a lot to offer us
      • Don’t assume that you all have the same starting point
      • More like orienteering, than running a race!
    5. Eureka Moments!
      • Group e-mail – communication is the key
      • Participation – there is no quorum in an ASG
      • MLN in print – contributing is the way forward
      • We became aware that we were researching and sharing findings with others

      • Communication
    7. Next Steps
      • Ambitious – small steps make a big difference
      • Task List – everyone should have a remit
      • Money – don’t expect to produce Champagne on a brewery budget!
      • Pride – make your school, your colleagues and your authority aware of what you’re doing.
