  2. 2. Day 1 <ul><li>Our class caterpillar is not very active. S.W. </li></ul><ul><li>His name is Spike because he has little spikes on his body. M.D. </li></ul><ul><li>He is thin and small. E.E. </li></ul><ul><li>He likes to climb! H.H. </li></ul>
  3. 3. Day 2 <ul><li>Today Spike has spun silk on the walls of his home. H.H. </li></ul><ul><li>He has only grown a millimeter. T.W. </li></ul><ul><li>He dug a tunnel in his food. C.C.G. </li></ul><ul><li>It doesn’t look like he eats very much. J.W. </li></ul>
  4. 4. Day 3 <ul><li>Today Spike has grown a lot ! He must of eaten tons of food over the weekend. H.S. </li></ul><ul><li>He has spun a web of silk like a spider. P.P. </li></ul><ul><li>There is food splattered around his home. C.C.G. </li></ul>
  5. 5. Day 4 <ul><li>Today Spike is longer. C.W.G. </li></ul><ul><li>He likes to curl up a lot! H.I. </li></ul><ul><li>He’s also gotten fatter! S.J. </li></ul><ul><li>He’s eating food off the wall! J.S. </li></ul>
  6. 6. Day 5 <ul><li>Spike is growing long and brown. E.E. </li></ul><ul><li>Spike has spun even more silk! C.M. </li></ul><ul><li>Spike has a dotted pattern on his back. J.S. </li></ul><ul><li>Spike looks like he’s sleeping up side down! </li></ul>
  7. 7. Day 6 <ul><li>Spike has molted!!! At first we weren’t sure what it was, but we had a few guesses. S.J. </li></ul><ul><li>His head looks more furry today! C.W.G. </li></ul><ul><li>There is a spiky fur ball stuck on the wall from the skin he shed! C.M. </li></ul>
  8. 8. Day 7 <ul><li>Spike gets more spikes everyday! J.W. </li></ul><ul><li>There’s one more fur ball of shed skin stuck on the wall of his home. H.I. </li></ul><ul><li>Spike is really hairy now! E.N. </li></ul><ul><li>He Is HUGE! H.S. </li></ul>
  9. 9. Day 8 <ul><li>Spike has grown even more over the weekend! P.P. </li></ul><ul><li>He is extremely large! J.S. </li></ul><ul><li>There are a bunch of caterpillar chips that show he’s been eating a lot too! C.W.G. </li></ul>
  10. 10. Day 9 <ul><li>Today he is on the top of the lid! H.S. </li></ul><ul><li>Spike’s caterpillar chips are so tall they almost touch the top! E.N. </li></ul><ul><li>The caterpillar chips are a very dark green. I wonder why? E.E. </li></ul>
  11. 11. Day 10 <ul><li>Spike is in the J formation! C.C.G. </li></ul><ul><li>The caterpillar chip pile is so high Spike is in a slanted J formation instead of hanging straight down. C.M. </li></ul><ul><li>The entrance to one of his tunnels of food is shaped like a heart. H.I. </li></ul>
  12. 12. Day 11 <ul><li>Today Spike is in his chrysalis! T.W. </li></ul><ul><li>He is gray and golden with orange spots. J.W. </li></ul><ul><li>Spike has a lot of little details on his chrysalis. S. J. </li></ul>
  13. 13. Day 12 <ul><li>Spike is becoming more golden! T.W. </li></ul><ul><li>Spike is also getting more orange spots on his chrysalis. H.S. </li></ul><ul><li>Spikes’ chrysalis is curved. J.W. </li></ul><ul><li>I wish I could see him as he’s changing inside! C.M. </li></ul>
  14. 14. Day 13 <ul><li>Spike still has little orange spots on the spikes of his chrysalis. C.C.G. </li></ul><ul><li>His orange dots look like they are sticking out at you. J.W. </li></ul><ul><li>He has a yellow line in the middle of his chrysalis. T.W. </li></ul>
  15. 15. Day 14 <ul><li>Spike’s chrysalis is a lot more golden today! C.W.G. </li></ul><ul><li>Spike looks like a mini log! H.H. </li></ul><ul><li>Spike still has spikes on his chrysalis and four golden spots. J.S. </li></ul>
  16. 16. Day 15 <ul><li>His chrysalis isn’t as gold. It’s turning tan. C.W.G. </li></ul><ul><li>Spike’s chrysalis is skinny at the top and in the middle , but fat on the bottom. C.C.G. </li></ul><ul><li>Spike looks very comfortable. I hope he comes out soon! M.D. </li></ul>
  17. 17. Day 16 <ul><li>It looks like Spike’s chrysalis has a mouth on it. S.W. </li></ul><ul><li>There is a wavy pattern on Spike’s chrysalis. H.I. </li></ul><ul><li>Spike’s chrysalis is grayish and brownish. S.J. </li></ul>
  18. 18. <ul><li>Spike is finally a butterfly!!!!!!!!!!! C.W.G. </li></ul><ul><li>Spike has turned into a Painted Lady Mon!!!!! C.C.G. </li></ul><ul><li>He is handsome! H.I. </li></ul><ul><li>He is orange, black and white. J.S. </li></ul>Day 17
  19. 19. Day 18 <ul><li>Spike’s wings are orange with black dots. T.W. </li></ul><ul><li>Spike has made little color streams that have trickled down the sides of his butterfly pavilion. H.H. </li></ul><ul><li>When he closes his wings he looks like a moth! J.S. </li></ul><ul><li>Spike gets bigger everyday! C.W.G. </li></ul>
  20. 20. Day 19 <ul><li>I think when his wings are closed he looks like a leaf! C.W.G. </li></ul><ul><li>When his wings are closed he is camouflaged. H.H. </li></ul><ul><li>Spike is starting to rest on the wall more instead of flying around! P.P. </li></ul>
