Palestinian from a village near Nablus and an Israeli Jew use the pain of loss of a child to connect with the humanity of others who have had loss, asking what can one do personally to prevent the kind of anger that leads to violence. Over 100 talks to various groups; “Pain has a lot of power and we use it to bring hope”
Ir Amin that provides political and educational tours around Jerusalem; Eitan was an Israeli Jew in the Police force – he has a keen awareness of the needs and deprivation of the Arabs living in Israel – the disparity of services, roads, etc, but had a certainty that Israelis were entitled to build and occupy the land (believed the 1948 forced evacuation was voluntary)
Works with victims of violence and believes a strong Israel is essential for the security and safety of Jews
Those that burn books, burn peopleA country is what it tolerates
Another person who spent time in prison- shrugs it off in a commitment to the future and forgiving the past. Out of 2.5 million Palestinians in Gaza and West Bank and 200,00 is Israel, 800,000 have been jailed for political reasons. Prisoners turn time into Universities as books forbidden by Israel can be found there. Author of 8 books; brought 700 Pal. To train in Spiral Dynamics, to learn how to use minds instead of emotions to plan the development of Palestine.
1 Kilometer with 9,000 people. They feel invisible and are so happy to have visitors.
300 kids, Muslim and Christian (they hope to add Jewish) are taught about peace building, tolerance and democracy. Train teachers and outreach to families and community. Ibrahim, son of the founder, directs the school along with his sister, Ghada, after Leah told him that the world has enough engineers and not enough peace activists. Trained as an engineer in Holland, Ibrahim is soft-spoken and gentle – absurd to imagine he spent a year in an Israeli prison.
Second most Holy site to Jews, after Temple Mount. Dates to Genesis when Abraham bought the site to bury Sarah. He refused it as a gift as he wanted to ensure ownership. According to Jewish mysticism, the cave is the threshold to the Garden of Eden and here souls ascend to celestioal reals. Adam discovered the secret and buried Eve there. Abraham later saw the light of Eden bursting forth. Isaac and Jacob are buried on either side of Abraham. In 1968 Defense Minister Moshe Dayan lowered a slender girl thru an aperture where she walked the length of an underground tunnel which eventually led to the discovery of the cave. Prayer at this site is very important. Patriarchs are considered sleeping and rise to seek mercy for children of the generations. Now divided with Jews restricted from entering Muslim area with Jews given 18 % and Muslims 82% after Purim 5755 in 94. Bulletproof busses are advertised to go to this site. One week after we were there, 40 Rabbis for Human Rights were accompanied by 70 Israeli soldiers and then not allowed to enter the Tomb and told to leave the city as they soldiers would not protect against the settlers. This is the start of our walk…
Border of H1 and H2:
Naheel is a dentist in downtown Hebron and a divorced mother with 2 beautiful girls. Her sister works for the University. Her brother moved out with his family as it is too dangerous and can’t leave the home past 8:30 pm and no one is around. The building can no longer be rented out for income as it once was.
Soldiers occupied building (highest vantage point on hill) for 6 years beginning with the 2nd intifada in 2000. They still come daily, as long as they like, no notice. Building is between H1 and H2 and belonged to the father who died of a broken heart; family was born in the home they owned since 1955.
Palestinian Democratic Union, a third party alternative to Fatah and Hamas, offering equal rights to women. Tea and Arabic coffee served everywhere we go!

Tal was killed on March 5th, 2003 on the bus,
Two days after writing this poem.
\"Actually nothing exciting happened to me lately,
But I reached the conclusion not to take anything for granted.
This is the problem of many people.
Their are lot’s of small things that can make you very happy.
Last Saturday was a marvelous morning.
Actually I do not remember not a nice Saturday.
Yesterday I received a new tooth brush,
A very miner event, but it made me happy.
A Friend of mine thought I was crazy.
Actually not, as I have already said, I don’t think
That rejoicing of life means being crazy\"
