Transcript of "chemical Reactions DM"

 1. 1. Elements, Atoms, Compounds and Molecules.
By D’Arcy Meredith
2. 2. Elements
An element is a pure substance made up of one type of atom.
3. 3. Atoms
An atom a fundamental piece of matter made up of protons, neutrons and electrons.
Electrons
Protons
Neutrons
4. 4. Metals
Metal is an element, compound, or alloy characterized by electrical and heat conductivity .
5. 5. What is non-metal?
A non-metal is an element on the periodic table that does not have the properties of a metal element such as malleability. Non metals are usually found as gases in nature or weak, brittle solids.
6. 6. Periodic Table
Description of what a periodic table is?
7. 7. What is a compound?
A chemical compound is a substance composed of two or more different elements chemically bonded together in a fixed proportion by mass.
8. 8. Chemicsal Reaction
A chemical reaction is a process that leads to the transformation of one set of chemicals substances to another.
9. 9. Identify a chemical reatcion
Production of heat, light, gas or precipitate.
10. 10. Physical and Chemical changes.
A chemical change is non reversible as a physical change is. For example, the burning of wood is a chemical change, as you can't unburn it, whereas the freezing of water would be a physical change because it can be reversed.
11. 11. Factors affecting a Reaction Rate.
Temperature, concentration, size of particles or using a catalyst.
Add a picture.
