    • Mindful Monday: When No One Believes in You, Keep Daring Greatly Anyway Posted on September 23, 2013 1 Ah Monday Mornings When No One Believes in You, Dare Greatly Anyway I’m just going to be vulnerable here with you a moment. After waking up to a bad dream this morning and after a few minor events of the weekend, I was feeling discouraged to say the least. Do you ever feel like no one understands you? Like no one understands your work or what you are trying to accomplish? Like no one gets your dreams, and like no one believes in you? And, this one is the worst of all… Like you are not worthy? I want you to do something… Go up to your best friend or a loved one and say, “You are so unworthy to be here, because you’re not bringing in enough money or contributing to your family!” Immensely Social Resources for Writers, Bloggers, Social Media Enthusiasts, and Lovers of Life, Art, & Fun
    • “Why are you still single? What the *%$# is wrong with you?!!!” “Why are you pursuing this pipe dream? Get off your #$%* and get a real job!” You would never do that right! And, please don’t I’m just making a point here. We would never say those things to a loved one, but that is often how we speak to ourselves. We take criticism from someone, who probably meant well, but we multiply it until we are just bashing everything about ourselves and our dreams. I just want to tell you right Now, listen close: YOUR Worthiness does not depend on any outside circumstances!!! None, nada, zilch! Your worthiness does not depend on your income, your relationship status, your weight, your skin, hair, or even your contribution to the world. You are alive! You have been given the miracle of life, and YOU my dear, beautiful person are Worthy! It can be hard to accept, I know. I still struggle with it. The striving to prove worthiness, the striving that maybe if I struggle hard enough and long enough the universe will see that I’m worthy of my dreams. Accepting that you are already worthy, well that just seems too easy. But, trust me on this: YOU ARE WORTHY! Say it over and over every single day, a thousand times if you have to, I AM WORTHY, I AM WORTHY, I AM WORTHY…. Ok, I realize this intro is becoming epically long. And, if you are anything like me, you still probably don’t feel completely worthy of your dreams, but I hope you will at least think about accepting it. So what do you do when you are discouraged? What do you do when no one seems to believe in you? Especially family, they can be the worst at this and can hurt you the most! What do you do when you get beat down over and over? When you struggle just to break even and no matter what you try, nothing seems to work? What do you do when you are exhausted and hurting and feel just plain weak? Here is what you do… YOU keep Daring Greatly! You Get Back in the Arena, Again, and Again, and Again!!! Now, those of you who have been with me for a while, know I love Dr. Brene Brown’s work and have done similar posts before. Those of you who are new, Welcome! You will soon learn that Daring Greatly is one of my favorite books ever.
    • If anyone needs that book, it’s me. I grew up surrounded by ideas like: emotion is weakness, you shouldn’t let people too close, life is hard, you just have to survive, guys are only after one thing and they’re more trouble than they’re worth, you can’t rely on anyone, you’re not smart enough, you gotta be tough, etc, etc, etc and a million other negative messages as many of us have. I’l be honest, letting go of those messages has been an ongoing process that is still not complete. I’ve done a huge amount of personal development work and my life and mindset have improved greatly! In the act of full disclosure, however, I must tell you that it is still a struggle. But, I’m not giving up. I won’t throw in the towel and settle for a life of mediocrity. That is why this morning, I went on a search for a bolster against my discouragement. I refuse to wallow in self-pity. One of the first suggestions I saw, when I jumped on YouTube was this video… One Thing More Terrifying Than Being Vulnerable It was the same message that Dr. Brown has shared many times before, but a great reminder for me to stay in the arena. Not to give up on my dreams, because of someone’s discouraging words or lack of understanding. Not to give up on my dreams because it’s hard and I’m tired. Not to give up on my dreams, because sometimes striving is all we’ve got. Just not to give up. If you are in the arena in any area of life, you are daring greatly! And, I must say, Kudos to YOU! Thank you for showing up, because it brings encouragement to us all. “Daring Greatly” for you could be going on that first date after having your heart broken in a previous relationship. It could be having that challenging conversation with a loved one that you’ve been putting off. It could be letting a
    • negative, toxic relationship go from your life. Heck, it could be just getting out of bed and facing another week. As long as you are moving forward, you are doing something brave! Remember, it’s not the critic who counts. It’s YOU! It’s you, that’s sweating it away in the arena. It’s you that has a dream. It’s you that is getting up every morning and putting on those Nikes and making life happen. It is you that is truly living. It’s YOU that matters! Stephen King once said, Monsters are real, ghosts are real too. They live inside of us, and sometimes they win. Don’t let them win!!! It doesn’t matter how many times you have found yourself down in the dirt. What matters is how many times you get back up! Did you hear that? What matters is how many times you get back up! And if you feel like you just can’t do it one more time, that’s ok. I’m here and I have a hand for you. Because, those of us who are actually in the arena striving, have no time to criticize anyone else. We’re banning together and together we are strong. You don’t want to get to the end of life and have to ask, What if I had shown up? May you have the courage, no the audacity to keep pursuing your dreams no matter what! I believe in YOU! XOXO, Hil <3 I had 2 new shares of this site when I logged on this morning. That small bit was encouraging to me. Please help by sharing this post, this page, and all the others, while leaving your comments and feedback! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for doing so! Let’s spread love and prosperity across the globe! My heart is full because of you!
