The Red Cross is appealing for donations to support relief efforts after the 2011 Christchurch earthquake in New Zealand. A local school is holding a mathematical cake decorating competition and bake sale on Pi Day to raise money for the Red Cross Christchurch Earthquake Appeal. Students are invited to bring their mathematically decorated cakes and cupcakes to be judged by experts and sold at lunch to donate proceeds to relief efforts after the devastating earthquake.
21. To celebrate International Pi Day, the Maths Department is holding a Cake Competition. Bring your Mathematically decorated cake or cupcakes to the TAS kitchen on Monday 14th March between 8 and 8:15am to be judged by a panel of experts. Slices of the cakes will be sold in the Bottom Quad at lunchtime to raise money for the Red Cross Appeal—Christchurch Earthquake. Winners will be announced and prizes awarded during an Assembly.
