  • Where was it developed?
    • Manhunt 2 was developed as a collaboration of different branches of the Rockstar Company, depending on which consoles the game was to be released:
    • Rockstar North (overseeing development) Rockstar London (PS2 )
    • Rockstar Leeds (PSP )
    • Rockstar Toronto (Wii )
    • Rockstar Vienna (formerly involved )
  • Cultural Influences/References
    • There was a lot of controversy as the game had been rejected for a rating, by the BBFC and IFCO, postponing the release until Rockstar had won the appeal. However the ban had a very provocative act, toward the target audience, as popularity increased with the awareness of it’s ban, and when it was released the reception gave a very positive outlook, being rated about 8/10 on average by various magazines.
  • Who is the target audience?
    • The entertainment software rating board has rated manhunt 2 ‘M’ which means no one under the age of 17 should be allowed to play or buy it. You can tell that this would be the rating because of its ‘ultra violence’ and disturbing concepts.

  • Reviews/Audience Response
    • Although there was much controversy, the game was received by the target audience, giving a very positive response, showing that the game was very popular. “Creating a sequel to one of the most gruesome, dark and unique stealth action titles ever made could easily be seen as a beacon for watch groups to decry video game violence.” – Review (Jeff Haynes, US, October 29 2007)
