    • Jantar Mantar was built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh Ji in 1827. It has 18 instruments. Samrat Yantra is a huge sundial made by masonry. It is used to keep local time accurate up to 2 seconds. The gnomon is 90 feet high. The hypotenuse of the right angled triangle has steps on it. It can keep time at night also. Every year on Guru Poornima astrologers and pandits use the instrument to find out how plentiful the monsoons are going to be.
