  2. 2. About The Author Hi my name is Christian. I like playing kickball and football. I build Lego cars when I’m bored and fix them. I play Runescape when I have time. I like playing sports and racing games. I wrote this book because I think giraffes are cool animals.
  3. 3. Who Am I The giraffe is the tallest mammal. The male wt 2,420-4,250 lb, top of the horns is 18 ft. The female wt 1,540-2,600. Giraffes have horns. The male’s horns are thick and the female’s are thin.
  4. 4. The Early Years The calf is about 150 pounds at birth. A young calf is over six feet tall. By the third day the calf can jump. Until about 10 months old, the calf drinks milk from it’s mother. Between two and three months the calf starts nibbling on bushes and shrubs.
  5. 5. Habitat Sweet Habitat The giraffe lives in grasslands. They like living near tall trees and rivers. The giraffe’s habitat is in the African Savannah and the Acacia Woodlands, which is south of the Sahara. They also live in East Africa.
  6. 6. What’s on the Menu The giraffe likes to eat acacia trees if they’re close. They eat mimosa trees if they’re close by. They also eat deciduous trees. They also like seedpods, flowers, fruit, climbing plants, thorns, apricot trees, leaves, and twigs.
  7. 7. Making Tracks The giraffes tacks can be a foot long! You can find giraffe tracks in South Africa, Central Africa, Southern Ethiopia, and Northern Kenya.The track looks like a mango with a crack trough it.
  8. 8. Simply Irresistible The tongue of a giraffe can be 21 inches. A giraffe sleeps only 5-30 minutes in a 24 hour period. No two giraffe spot pattern is the same.
  9. 9. Where in the World The giraffe lives in Central Africa and South Africa. You can also find a lot of giraffes in Southern Ethiopia and Northern Kenya.
