  3. How to Use it… <ul><li>Can be used through any smart phone device. It can even be used through text messaging </li></ul><ul><li>Users can “check in” to any location-including services, restaurants and other hot spots </li></ul><ul><li>Frequent users gain badges </li></ul><ul><li>The most frequent visitors of a location can become “mayor” of that certain establishment </li></ul>
  4. Why people use it? <ul><li>Connect further with their friends </li></ul><ul><li>Can be connected with Facebook and/or Twitter accounts </li></ul><ul><li>Allows the user to show where they are located to their friends </li></ul><ul><li>Gain free coupons and other rewards </li></ul>
  5. Who’s using it? <ul><li>Still a young audience </li></ul><ul><li>Older generations are catching on </li></ul><ul><li>New group of small business owners working from home or an online business are starting to spring up more. </li></ul>
  6. For advertisers…. <ul><li>Provides instant gratification for their customers </li></ul><ul><li>Creates an even closer and intimate relationship between the consumer and the brand </li></ul>
  7. Arising Problems <ul><li>Privacy issues? </li></ul><ul><li>Very similar to Facebook security settings </li></ul><ul><li>Location can be auto revealed on Twitter through someone elses status </li></ul>

Conclusion <ul><li>Foursquare is the new direction for social media and for advertisers </li></ul><ul><li>Creating a larger mobile advertising presence </li></ul><ul><li>Could potentially become a nightmare for consumers- advertisers could follow them constantly </li></ul><ul><li>Right now, a great benefit for both consumer and advertiser </li></ul>
