2. 2. Background

Received vision from God while singing in shower one morning (about 5am).

Thought it was a joke at first, but meditated on it (prayed and read the word ) and felt God was serious, so decided to look at it seriously myself.

 3. 3. God’s Vision For Band

“ Passion” for praising and worshiping God is the key.

God wants committed band members, so you can use your talent to the MAX!

No Age limits , in terms of band members. Just required to have musical talent.

Open and free (unhindered) worship.

 4. 4. Musical Style / Ideas

Genre – Rock (Light, Medium, Heavy), but not “Heavy metal”.

Jazz to be used in “creative” sessions so that improvisation can be explored.

Initially, “Jam” sessions to be used to create and Gel band together, and see who is particularly talented, or God wants ti use for what part in the band.

Complete fluidity / interchange

Male / Female leads.

Lead / backup

Different instruments leading (e.g. Lead guitar, Keyboards, Voice etc)

Psalms (God’s word) sung with “modern” spin.

Genre – Light, Medium, Rock

Start with lively Praise and Worship from existing sources (e.g. Hill song, Parachute band, Abundant life church, Graham Kendrick etc)

 5. 5. Structure

Stage 1 & 2 – Trust with three trustees being:

Downham Community Church elder (e.g. Ian)

Band member – voted on (e.g. me)

Independent Christian Musician (TBA)

NB All monies to Trust to be distributed to Trust’s nominated charities on % or nominal basis.

Stage 3

Trust continues for non commercial activities

Company for Intellectual Property rights of individuals (e.g. Royalty purposes etc)

Idea is for youth to have a great time dancing and socialising, and then opportunity to enter into a “personal” relationship with Christ (i.e. Altar call).

 8. 8. Stage 3 (Three to Five years from now, if ever)

Own composed music, bordering on professional musicians therefore need to consider commercial implications

Set-up formal company – Shareholder structure to be agreed in advance.

Intellectual property implications – pay royalties to people where due (i.e. composed / performed music etc).

Separate from more community orientated activities in Stage 1 &2 where all monies earned would go to a trust.

Professional kit required. Band members able to upgrade to better quality instruments.

Professional status (i.e. not working at old jobs- will vary from person to person).

 9. 9. Costs

Stage 1 – very little.

Own kit etc

Maybe £200 - £500 for year.

Stage 2 – more expensive.

Need more professional kit

Mikes £200 each = £1000

Mixer = £1000

Professional Roadies ???

Stage 3 – funded out of company profits

 10. 10. Funding

Possibilities:

Lottery Funding

Music grants

Other community funding (e.g. Bromley / Lewisham councils

Downham Community Church (partial)

New Frontiers (Partial)

Band members contribute .
