It survived, but with health handicap. </li></ul><ul><li>Group of children played at building ground, one of them was burried by concrete tube - it did not survived. </li></ul><ul><li>13 y.o. boy fell from bycicle. (2 mil CZK - treating middle sized burning.) Every year in Czech Republic Serious injuries: Common injuries: Fracture, dislocation, scratche, contusion, minor cut, ... Burning, scald, head injury, poisoning, drawning, fall, polythrauma, ... … we all know these injuries, they happen, but there happen more serious ones ...

Child did not know, how to behave safely or behaved unsafe intentionaly.

Child knows dangers and how to avoid them. Child realizes consequenses of its behavior, behaves responsibly, protects its own health. <ul><li>medicines and chemicals are placed safely out of reach of children </li></ul><ul><li>furniture without sharp edges </li></ul><ul><li>wells and swimming pools are safely covered </li></ul><ul><li>baby-seat is ready in every car </li></ul><ul><li>protected crossings near schools </li></ul><ul><li>safe playgrounds, ... </li></ul>
  24. 24. <ul><li>Experiences teach us that injury prevention is worthwile. </li></ul><ul><li>Number of children deaths decreased by 90% in Sweden during last 50 years. </li></ul><ul><li>USA: Every one dollar payed for prevention saves 3 dollars in expenses for treating injuries. </li></ul><ul><li>IN Czech Republic number of children deaths decreased by 40% since 1997. </li></ul>INJURY PREVENTION

Pre-school Home, traffic, streets <ul><li>Child grabs electric cable and is burnt by boiling or friting kettle, iron - serious burnings, scalds. </li></ul><ul><li>Child pulls down tablecloth with a hot soup, tea or coffee, burns itself by garden grill. </li></ul><ul><li>Child plays with electrick socket or electric cable, bites electric kabel - serious burns of mouth, tongue, lips or fingers. </li></ul><ul><li>Child falls off from an unprotected staircase, balcony - injures its head. </li></ul><ul><li>Childs falls into garden swimming pool, pond or water barrell - drawning. </li></ul><ul><li>Child swallows by mistake some pills, medicine or chemicals adults left without control - poisoning. </li></ul>Age Place Types of injury Prevention

Secondary school School, playground, traffic, street <ul><li>Boys climb on electric pillars or wagon, they can kill themselves by elcectric current. </li></ul><ul><li>Trainsurfing - fall under the train, burns from electric current. </li></ul><ul><li>Jump into unknown water - spinal cord injury, handicap. </li></ul><ul><li>Drug experiments, alcohol abuse - poisonoing, falls, traffic accident. </li></ul><ul><li>Driving cars and motorcycles without permission. </li></ul><ul><li>Extreme sports, adrenalin sports. </li></ul><ul><li>Chicane. </li></ul>Child knows the value of its own life and health, knows the risks and takes responsibility for its own health and future.
