  1. 1. Define what a sentence is and itskinds according to use/structure.A sentence is a word or group of words that express a complete thought or idea. Containing a subject and predicate. The largest independent unit of grammar: it begins with a capital letter and ends with a period, question mark, or exclamation point.

A topic sentence state the main idea of a paragraph. A topic sentence has several important functions: it substances or supports an essay’s thesis statement; it unifies the content of a paragraph and directs the order of the sentences; it unifies the content of a paragraph and directs the order of the sentences; and it advises the reader of the subject to be discussed and how the paragraph will discuss it.
  6. 6. What is a Paragraph?• A paragraph is a series of sentences that are organized and coherent, and are all related to a single topic. Almost every piece of writing you do that is longer than a few sentences should be organized into paragraphs. This is because paragraphs show a reader where the subdivisions of an essay begin and end, and thus help the reader see the organization of the essay and grasp its main points.• Paragraphs can contain many different kinds of information. A paragraph could contain a series of brief example or a single long illustration of a general point. It might describe a place, character, or process; narrate a series of events; compare or contrast two or more things; classify items into categories; or describe causes and effects. Regardless of the kind of information they contain, all paragraphs share certain characteristics. One of the most important of these is a topic sentence.

  9. 9. The basic elements of a good composition writing:Words, sentence, paragraph and chapter, and understanding toimprove the structure of the composition to make it interesting toread. This can even be true of single words and if you find yourself usingthe same word a lot you may want to consider ways to change thatup. It might just be changing to a similar word or it might simplyrequire you to think through why you’re using that word so much.As you advance another thing you can consider is breaking rules. Many of the writing rules that we are used to following are not rulesat all. For example there is no reason that a paragraph cannot be asingle sentence or even a single word long and this can be useful ifyou want to draw attention as well as adding more white space toyour page.
