You bring blind animals as sacrifices, and that is
wrong. You bring sick and crippled animals for
sacrifices, and that is wrong. Try giving those sick
animals as a gift to your governor. Would he
accept those sick animals? No, he would not
accept them.” Malachi 1:8 (ERV)
At the close of the OT...
God's people are asked about the quality of their
sacrifices to Him
They offer the blind, the sick, and the lame.
Such sacrifice would be unacceptable to a man,
how could it be to God?
400 years of silence follows the book of Malachi...
After that 400 years
The NT opens with...
A call to repentance
Israel's behavior needed to change
Fruit of that change needed to be shown
So I beg you, brothers and sisters, because of the
great mercy God has shown us, offer your lives as
a living sacrifice to him—an offering that is only for
God and pleasing to him. Considering what he
has done, it is only right that you should worship
him in this way. Romans 12:1 (ERV)
The Apostle Paul pleads with the church to offer
an acceptable sacrifice today.
We are to offer our lives as that sacrifice
This is our worship today
Are we doing this?
Are we living a life of sacrifice?
Are we acceptable in His eyes?
