    The food in Puerto Rico has disticntive characteristics
    Their influences comes from:
    -Spanish settlers
    -African immigrants
    -Native Caribbean
    *In the puertorican culture the dish of rice and beans is concidered a diet.
    *The vegetables more used in Puertorican’s kitchen are potatoes, yucca, “yautia”, ñame, “batata” and the most important is the plantain.
    *The Tropical Fruits of our island are: papaya, mango, guava and pineapple.

    *The people in Puerto Rico eat a variety of meats like: beef, chicken and pork.
    *In the seafood they eat: oysters, shrimps and clams
    *In Puerto Rico “frituras” are very famous some of them are: “alcapurrias” and “bacalaitos”.

    • Drink water
    • 11. Avoid eating too much salt
    • 12. Avoid eating fat.
    • 13. Prefer white meat to red
    • 14. Eat fruits and vegetables
    • 15. Do not eat too much sugar
    • 16. In addition to all of the above take into account that physical activity is important.
    • 17. It is better to eat with a set schedule and eat only to be satisfied and not stuffed.
