What is PMF about?
Planning my Future aims to engage students in their learning and career path planning by providing a framework for whole school organisation and participation.
How can PMF work?
Streamlining teams in schools
Justifying purpose of various teams
Overuse of teachers (the enthusiastic ones)
What might the benefit be for my school?
School management enhancement
Possible partnerships with business, other schools and the potential development of successful school communities.
Initiative Overview
A Career & Transition School Coordination team- this might entail a realignment of existing school teams; Schools need to ask themselves:
Why was each team formed?
Which staff members are involved?
Does the team have an aim and how is that aim reflected in the schools management plan?
Is the team representative of all school areas?
What part of the student body is targeted by this team?
How does the team evaluate its success and are team findings utilised in developing management plans?
Implementation Ideas?
School Clusters- groups of high schools working together to develop strategies that address the needs of a targeted group of students.
School Communities- Formation and/or enhancement of strategies across school communities that develop the ‘whole’ student.
Kurri Kurri Learning Community
The potential for the development of formalised partnerships is underpinning to PMF.
Teacher professional development is also a key to the success of this initiative.
Other Ideas
