WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE? <ul><li>TRAINEESHIPS </li></ul><ul><li>18 month contract </li></ul><ul><li>Completing on 31 st December of HSC year </li></ul><ul><li>APPRENTICESHIPS </li></ul><ul><li>In most cases - 60 months or 5 year contract </li></ul><ul><li>Complete the 1 st year of Apprenticeship over Years 11 and 12 </li></ul>

REQUIREMENTS <ul><li>Minimum 100 days on-the-job for most industry areas </li></ul><ul><li>Minimum 144 days for the Building trades </li></ul><ul><li>Minimum 180 days for the Plumbing and Electrical trades </li></ul><ul><li>During Yr 11 and Yr 12 </li></ul><ul><li>Completed by 31 st December, HSC year </li></ul>

SUCCESSFUL COMPLETIONS Student No.1 – Nicola Completed HSC 2009 including Hairdressing Cert III Qualification completed in 2010 2011 – Completes Cert IV in June and has started her Diploma in Hairdressing Store Management which will be completed at the end of 2011 Student No.2 – Jarrod Completed HSC 2010 including Engineering (Mechanical) Cert III 2010 – Received an award for ‘Most Outstanding School Based Apprentice’ in the BREED Excellence in Industry Awards

SUCCESSFUL COMPLETIONS Student No. 3 – Amber Completed HSC 2008 including Hospitality Operations Cert II 2009 – Offered Apprenticeship in Commercial Cookery Cert III with Sydney Turf Club Student No. 4 – Aaron Completed HSC 2009 including Cert IV OOSH (Out of School Hours Care)  Aaron retained his employment with the Before and After School Care facility which he trained.

SUCCESSFUL COMPLETIONS Student No. 5 - Sarah Completed HSC 2009 Including Hairdressing Cert III 2009 – 1 st Place in the State Training Awards for School Based Apprenticeships Qualified for the National Training Awards Student No. 6 – Steven Completed HSC 2010 including Cert II in Business Services Finalist in the State Training Awards for School Based Trainee of the year Worked at the Department of Housing for the Aboriginal Employment Strategy

  14. 17. <ul><li>Cert III Flooring Technology </li></ul><ul><li>Forestworks are working with us to place up to 10 students into School Based Apprenticeships in the Flooring Technology industry. </li></ul><ul><li>This industry covers, wooden floors, carpet, lino, cork tiles and so much more. </li></ul><ul><li>More information is available for interested students. </li></ul>

WHEN CAN YOU START? <ul><li>Start in Term 4 of Year 10 for Traineeships </li></ul><ul><li>Start as soon as possible for Apprenticeships </li></ul><ul><li>preferably Term 3 </li></ul><ul><li>There is the possibility for Year 10 </li></ul><ul><li>students to start at the beginning of Year 10 </li></ul><ul><li>Start accumulating your required days </li></ul>
