Priority Three: Humanitarian Aid <ul><li>How is Canada Providing Help ? </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Canada gives about $111 million over a span of 3 years to help the Afghanistan government help give aid to the Afghan people. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Canada provides food and non-food aid( blankets, kitchen utensils) to the people who need them. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Vaccinations are given to those who need them as well as a other health services. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>What are two goals that Canada has for this part of the mission by 2011? </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Canada will continue to make humanitarian aid available to the Afghan people. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>To monitor progress- so that the amount of success is known. Signature Project 1 – Dahla Dam and Irrigation System . <ul><li>Why is this an important project for the people of Afghanistan? </li></ul><ul><li>It is important for the people because it will supply irrigation water for the people and their needs, give seasonal jobs, and help the agriculture in Afghanistan. </li></ul><ul><li>What is Canada doing to help? </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Canada is providing money and doing many of the repairs to the dam(water valves, generators, etc.) </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Training is also providing training for farmers in water management, and other farming techniques. </li></ul></ul>http://www.montrealgazette.com/news/Canada+pours+money+effort+into+Afghan+irrigation+project/4549790/story.html

Signature Project 3 – Polio Eradication . <ul><li>Why is this an important project for the people of Afghanistan? </li></ul><ul><li>Because it means that their children will be protected from this debilitating disease.
